Yes. It fits over a quadrahedron shape cast into the cams and effectively locks them in place. It will only fit one way.
The other special tool needed is the crankshaft locking pin, which does not go in at TDC.

Is it possible the part # was facing down? The number is on a rotating part. If you look at the bolts it's very easy to tell if yours are the good or bad ones.
I also doubt that any warranty will cover it unless it actually fails.

I have the same issue. Could not find the Part Number. Here are some pics. There is some sort of Part Number (in the rusted yellow at the bottom of the second pic) but it does not appear to be a Porsche Number. Anyone have any ideas on this? my car has the "bad" bolts with the center stud.
