Silver bullet (v3)

Well time has come to finally get after my car. Engine and trans are coming out in the morning and should be able to examine the damage. Then engine and trans are going to srm for some overhauling. Few more upgrades to but overall fairly similar to last year.

Well after a week of dealing lots of other broken stuff, lots of snow, and other bs, I finally pulled the motor tonight. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it torn down and get the heads ready for porting.

The only thing I had trouble with when tearing down is that there are 3 screws behind the intake cam sprocket that you have to remove before you can take the cam thrust cap off. You have to remove the sprockets first to get to the screws. There is a special tool you are supposed to use to hold the cams to loosen the sprocket bolts but you can use an end wrench on the cams as there is a section on them that is a hexagon. Have fun!

I made a bracket that is taped on the inside of the bumper. Then it's bolted in and have 3m tape on the outside as well.

Well got the motor 3/4 taken apart. Heads off the side that had knock. No visible damage which is a huge positive. Probably a very minor bent rod.

porting heads tomorrow and Thursday. Then packing up to head to Vegas. Dropping the engine and trans off at srm and taking a mini vaca.

Looks good. Are you having Sean build it a day while you wait? If so I would clean all of the parts you can so he doesn't have to. That will save him a ton of work so it can get done on time. I would pull those cylinder housings too and pop out the cylinders. From there you can remove the pistons and rods easily as well. Pull the studs also. That would prob save a few hours of work so you can drive home with your engine.
