Need help from someone who has VCDS & 3 Spoke steering wheel

I just swapped my 4 spoke steering wheel to 3 spoke but the cruise control and heated steering wheel is not working.

If you have a VCDS and 3 spoke, can you go into the Steering wheel module and tell me what your coding is?

thanks Mike for the code. Does your steering wheel have a heated button? Also, do you have the convenience access feature? Bascially the steering wheel retracts when you exit the car? The old style has a little button on the steering wheel but the new wheel doesn't have this button.

I just realized I could test each buttons in the car by choosing advanced testing value in the module screen. Very helpful in troubleshooting items like heated steering wheel or cruise control button because there is no visual feedback.

The whole car feels brand new, i couldnt resist it when comparing to my outgoing 2006 model

Its done 60,000 in 6 years but the bulk of the mileage was in the first 3 years so im assuming mostly motorway mileage. all the leather still smells and feels brand new. the only thing i dont like about the new model is that even though i now have bluetooth streaming audio i still cannot switch the track from the infotainment (a function i got used to when using the dice mediabridge in my 06)

How did you get on with the coding did you manage to fix your cruise control?..

Hello Lilo,
When you had the airbag removed for installation, did you see any wires coming out of the steering wheel itself as shown in the attached picture of the black SW, 3 or 4 spoke heated wheels will have these wires, if no wires, then no heat as shown in my red SW.....

hah it is a shame that we can't somehow integrate the steering wheel function to the aftermarket item. I haven't tested the cruise control on the road yet because I sent the car to the body shop to paint my front bumper. However, i tested using the VcDS simulator and the buttons were functional.

I got the unit from EBay just under $3000. It is very expensive but it made a huge difference to the interior. I'm not exaggerating. I did many mods but the steering wheel made the largest interior aesthetic difference. The new wheel is smaller than the four spoke and looks more sporty. If you plan to change cars soon, then I don't think it is worth it to update but If you plan to keep this car and drive until the wheels fall off like I plan to, I think it is a good update. Besides maintenance cost and fuel cost, this bad boy commands presence like no other car at its price range.

hi Johnny. Yes I had the wires when I removed the old wheel and swapped the new wheel. VCDS indicated correct button function and temperature indicator. VcDS says 28 degree celsius before heated button is pressed and gradually climbed to 31 degree. I couldn't feel or barely feel any difference. I wonder if it is because my ambient temperature is not cold enough (17 Celsius) to notice significant difference because my hand temperature is at body temp which is higher than 31 Celsius. Maybe I should hold some ice cube to cool down the steering wheel then turn on the heated function and see if it heats up?

btw thanks for your other post on steering wheel removal. It helped a lot! One thing my old wheel had was that the leather at the back of wheel didn't have the two access holes pre-punched. I had to use a screw driver to poke two holes in order to access the two holes.
