I like the MF wheel. It makes operation of the various units much simpler. In addition I also like the buttons. Since I haven't used paddles I can't compare. The buttons did require getting used to and are not standard when you look at other makes. I thought hard about the Sport wheel, but got spoiled but using the controls on the wheel from my E class. So, that's the direction I took. I've mentioned it before that I really think Porsche is missing an opportunity by not combining the two.

This is simply my opinion. Take it, leave it.

Last time I checked Porsche does NOT support swapping a sport steering wheel for a multi-function steering wheel. However, my understanding is that it IS possible if you order all the right parts and get install and the coding done. Your dealer may give you a stock NO but maybe you want to check with someone that does add-on work. Failing that, the existing PCM touch panel does an excellent job of controlling an Ipod.

Choosing the wheel really is dependent on the interior I think. If you have a CF filled car but you have the alum-based Sport wheel, it looks out of place. With the MF wheel, you can get those CF inserts which suit it much better. The sport wheel is well suited to the alum interior. If you we were to judge them solely on looks, I would go Sport Design any day.

Sport Wheel looks best, even with CF interior.
Shifting with the MF buttons is so wierd.
Its a bad carry over from Tiptronic.

Well I have neither paddles nor MF. Base black wheel with buttons and stalk, which I've grown to like. I do like the carbon MF and the paddle sport design as well, but $1100 to purchase them?? WTF

I really dislike the painted silver trim, looks cheap in such an expensive car. Same goes for the silver base painted trim. The brushed alum should be standard. I ordered MF with a 7MT - so no toggles to make it look funny.

I recently drove a Cayman loaner without MF and continuously found myself reaching for the steering wheel controls. I've enjoyed the MF wheel.

Funny how tastes vary. I don't like the brushed Alu, and the cheap looking MF wheel even less. I do love the stock silver trim and SD wheel. I dislike wood trim and generally like CF trim, but I can't stand the look of the OEM CF weave.

I have the SD wheel on my 991S and a MF wheel on my BMW 650. Virtually never use any of the MF buttons in the Bimmer. Far prefer the paddles over buttons (even switched wheels in my 996 TT Cab Tip from buttons to CF with paddles about 2 years ago.

I didn't have budget issues yet I kept the standard trim just because it matches the SD...and for me...SD was a must! Not only because of the paddle shifters but also due to classic minimalist pure sporty look. IMO for a 911, SD is natural option and a must!

The stalk provides access to all screens / functions in a jiffy...only thing that cannot be controlled off stalk is the volume...and it's right there. I guess it's a matter of getting used to.

I went with this. I used the adapter from Paul Li and I kept the heating function, wrapped with alcantara.

You can control all the PCM functions through the stalk without taking your hands off the steering wheel, its as fast and intuitive as the MF wheel IMO.
Best of both worlds.
Concur 100%. The real best of both worlds is a 6 speed manual and MF steering wheel, although I personally could do without the MF wheel. I had a MF wheel in my '08 997 S (manual) and rarely used the steering wheel controls.
