Multifunction vs Sport Design steering wheel

what would u pick?

I am in the midwest- so it would help me to get the multifunction so I can add steering wheel heating. But I feel the Sport design will give a better grip and it has paddles instead of the buttons.....

Lots and lots of water under the bridge on this already. I had MF, now sport, would go back to MF...I don't prefer buttons over paddles or vice versa, I want the PCM control, I would go with heat even though our season is short and mild compared to many, many other places.

I have MF and like it. I would really prefer the paddles over the buttons, but like jster, prefer to have control of the PCM through the steering wheel. When I do change gears, I use the PDK stick anyways.

Initially I thought my Multi Function was a big mistake now ^ ^

There is a DIY Tech Art retrofit for paddles, but about $1K for a couple pieces of plastic/alumunum - doesn't compute.

All of Ferrari's wheels are multifunctional and they all have paddles. Of course the paddles are not connected to the wheel. They have extended paddles that allows for shifts even when the wheel is turned.

Personal preference like most things but I went with the Sport Design because I just thought it looked better. No regrets.

SportDesign hands down.
Paddles are a must for PDK and it looks much better.
You can control all the PCM functions through the stalk without taking your hands off the steering wheel, its as fast and intuitive as the MF wheel IMO.
Best of both worlds.

Personal choice. After testdriving both i had a clear winner, Sportdesign. To me the MF looks out of place in a 991 and is counterintuitive driving at a brisk pace. Furthermore the SD stalk controls almost everthing the MF can.

At first I was all about the convenience of the Multi but, the car came with a the Sport wheel and it looks MUCH better and true, can control most from the stalk.

My car came with the sport design. i use my car as a daily driver and when in traffic i would definitely prefer MF. That said, I do think the Sport looks better and I like the paddles.

Its a matter of personal preference and driving conditions / habits.

If I hadn't have ordered PDK, I'd have opted for the multi-function wheel since there wouldn't be any buttons vs paddles issues. But for PDK I want paddles, not buttons. Too bad Porsche doesn't follow Ferrari's lead and use large, fixed paddles on the column versus attached to the wheel so that thumbs could be used to operate the wheel buttons while fingertips could pull the paddles.

But he is right! Paddles on the steering wheel are nice, but fixed large paddles would be nicer. Multifunction doesn't really bother me to be honest. It's a nice feature but won't miss it in the 991.

Another thing I don't get is why the Sport Design Wheel's finish doesn't match when you opt for another trim in the car. Brushed alu trim should go with brushed alu Sport Design wheel, CF with CF, etc... I wouldn't mind paying extra for that.

But I think I know what's missing with Porsche... there needs to be a woman in their design department. I think I'm going to write an application letter.
