Hello guys,

I wanted to chime in because you brought me into the conversation.

First of all, congratulations to Manuel, it's a great result! It was a very nice event as well.
I double checked event timing with vbox, it was spot on within 0.5mph variation maximum. So it was great setup.

I also want to clear up a few things.

Dave's car is the only car that has our full parts also it's the first 1/2 test on his car and the first time the car has been over 150mph.We had some technical problems at this event.
We tried couple of things but didnt help, the car was clearly slower than what it was before. Second car is not an ES car, i just tuned it, its a full weight street car, stock seats etc.. it has different parts on it.

Both cars were running on 93 pump gas + octane booster. We didnt use race fuel, i'm stating this not as an excuse but rather as a fact because you were stating race fuel usage.
Dave's car ran 173,4mph and other car went 173,0mph on 2nd day at 80F weather, which obviously isn't the best condition, as the 1st date weather was around 55F.
So I don't think there is a barrier at about 173-175mph. We will make some more tests soon and see what happens.

By the way I didnt fly to US just for this event, i'm still in NewJersey, tuning 6 different cars.

Anyways, it was the first event that i attend and i met with some real nice guys and had fun! You cant win always right :P

If you are speaking about breaking records Mark, let me remind you, Daves car completed on Sep 18th, then went to track after 2 weeks on October 1st,
ran 9.70s at Maple Grove raceway which beat all USA 1/4 mile records in 2 weeks time (weighting 3595lbs at scales) then got substantially faster with some more tweaks.

When will your car be back up and running to do some more testing? I'm curious what a high rpm built engine vtg car like yours will do in the half mile.

Daves car with your full set up on it means you would already have tested tunes for that particular set up from the many ½ mile runs you or your customers have already done. What parts were on the white car wasn’t that a By Design set up with By Design 68”s

I didn’t say anything about race fuel. Since you guys were there to break records you could have used whatever fuel you wanted so by you using 93 and your favorite octane booster that tells me you think it works better than race fuel for these cars. I myself use 101 pump from 76 with no additive.

What mph did you run on day 1 with both cars? You had Negative DA conditions out there. So how many 991s that you have tuned with non Metzger engines have gone over 175?

You were personally out at this event tuning Daves car and the white car. One is a lighter car and has bigger Vtg’s than other car has,and the other car has small 68”s full weight and they both ran the same mph?

I congratulate you on breaking records with Daves car that is bad ***. I think most of us here are all really competitive and Proud of our tuners, for me I personally know Sam has tuned hundreds of cars out there and they all do the same thing at every competition they perform and kick *** and are consistently the fastest cars at these events.

Let me give you a run down on when I set the record. Sam tuned it and 1 week later at Sacramento Raceway August 20th 2,500 da and 85 degrees ran a 9.73 then 1 week later at Famoso 3,100 Da and 91 degrees I ran a 9.71 and slipped my clutch and was done. My car on the stock engine has also run over 175 verified at the Mojave mile, that Da was over 4,000. In Sacramento I brought my wife, and at Famoso it was me my son and my wife there was no remote tuning, no pit crew or my tuner wasn’t on site we had 1 tune that’s bad ***, I do have sparco seats but I also have a gmg roll bar which is actually heavier than stock seats with no roll bar along with 5 gallon fuel cell for meth.

I will be the first to tell you **** happens at the track when your trying your hardest, Ive been open here everytime my car has busted everyone here knows about it from me not from anyone else. I hope to have my car up and running within the next few weeks and get some testing done so we can get some good data. My rev limiter is bumped up 200rpm so I wouldn’t call that high rpm, nor do I think these cars need high rpm to run there best. Yes I am itching to get my car back out on the track for ¼ and ½ mile and if all goes well the mile.

Hello Emre,

Thank you, I owe the results to the By Design and Champion team. I was having issues before (IAT's) with he car and they both teamed up and solved all the issues. The car is definitely a beast. Glad you enjoyed the event, and hope to see you and the AIM team at our next event in Oct.

Now, let me clarify. The first day the car ran a 175.1 mph and then a 175.5 mph a couple of runs after. The second day ambient temps were a little higher and the car ran 173.5 mph and 174 mph...after that I called it a day as I had a flight to Europe that night that I could not miss (wife would kill me). Like I mentioned on an earlier post the 2 times the car went to 175 mph, this was on MS 109 plus meth, full weight and 1/2 tank of gas. Being a wrestler by nature, my coach always showed me to go with everything you got, no matter what, and never underestimate any opponent...having that said we prepped the car to best of our possibilities and took it to town at the event. Trust me, I would of loved to have had Sam, Mitch and Tom there coaching me, but it was just Llyod, Richard and myself, with Sam and Tom on call. Would I have benefited from having a full team there??? Hell yeah, I can guarantee that the car would of run 2-3 miles more, specially if we could of straightened out some of the PDK map hiccups that the car has because of the power that it is putting down. Nevertheless, I am very grateful to my team and their support...without them we would of not accomplished those speeds. I am not a big 1/4 mile guy, so don't plan on breaking any records there...you are lucky Emre...just love these 1/2 mile runs and our trips down to Mexico.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi Mark,

Cant wait to hear your results, I know you and Sam have been working hard on you beast.

I once played around with those fuel additives but really did not see much benefits, I actually sent some before and after logs to Mitch and Sam that did not show that much of advantage. Before going with meth, I would only use 109 on kill mode. Now with meth we continue to go with 109, I just think that if we have the availability and the added peace of mind of a high octane fuel we should use it...God bless it!

Let's chat later about the full mile, went to Texas with the 997.2 TTS that I had and would like to go back with the 991.1 TTS...Sam trying to talk me out of it

Take care,

Manuel

Mark, I didnt fly to USA specificly to tune these 991s at half mile. I don't need to fly down 6000 miles to break records.
When Daves car ran 9,7 - 9,6 - 9,5 - 9,4s and break World VTG record i wasnt in USA, even when i tuned blue 991 that run 8.99s in 1/4 mile i was sitting at my home in Turkey.
Some of the records that we broke in Bahrain, even those, i wasnt there. My visit purpose was to meet with my dealer and customers.

I don't know how many 991s with built engines out there in USA but as i posted before we built 5 DFI engines, (3.8L, 4.0L and 4.2L) which are running now.
We had chance to test one of them last year and went 200mph in 1/2 mile with a built engine DFI/PDK last year running on GT35s and 30psi boost. Hopefully there will be more 1/2 events this year at where we live so we will see more data of our cars.

Obviously 1/2 mile events are new to my customers because its not a common event type in UK, Europe or Asia. It looks like there are much more events to attend in USA.
We also have made some tests in UK with stock engine vtgs and gone over 175mph at highway, but its not easy as you have to stop in the middle of the highway and make pulls while you are watching your back.

I don't want to get into details of what you ran with your car, this DA that DA etc...There is no point on discussing that at the moment.

1st day they went 171 and 172mph and we saw Daves car is slower than before, tried to fix it at night, but couldnt succeed. It was a fun event and we all had a good time while trying to go as fast as possible. Everyone was there with the purpose to be faster than the guy next to them. Our car didn't run as it supposed to be at the event, we now have identified the issue, we will fix it and test again and see whats happening.

Emre however you were there, I also heard the O2 sensors were bad probably from the Octane booster, and that you replaced them and the car was running 100% Sunday!

Yes Ive heard from your customer on the 175mph run that was done with special 71's and that good UK air, so that 1 unverified run that he did 60 -130mph I remember the post well I had to called him out on it, when he kept changing his time, the 4.5 was done with a small shop boy driving lol, that was his answer. I believe 0 of what Emir says as its always tainted.

As far as the conditions yep I would of run the **** outa my car in the winter I have just never made it to the winter. I break in the summer just my luck. So again congrats to you and Aim and Dave for the 1/4 mile record I have no doubt I could have bested that time with better conditions, it is what it is.

Lets all keep it real. Im outa here, everyone have a great weekend

Manuel,
good to know on the fuel additives. Life begins at 180mph at Mojave they now run the 1.5 mile and they time the 1/2 the mile and 1.5 all in one run. The only issue is its Mohave and it is usually over 80 degrees and 4,000da, there is always a wind usually a cross wind or a head on head, every so often a tail wind shows up When I go don't expect a tail wind When I was a Giac stage 2 I ran 198mph with 5mph head wind on saturday and had could not stay for sunday which had a 10-12 mph tail wind. A guy with a GTR in my class best time saturday was 196 and he went 203 on Sunday just to show you what a little wind will do.

Im up for a trip to Texas somewhere we can meet in the middle miles are fun. FYI maybe TK2K also.

A guy with a GTR in my class best time saturday was 196 and he went 203 on Sunday just to show you what a little wind will do.

Im up for a trip to Texas somewhere we can meet in the middle miles are fun. FYI maybe TK2K also.
Wow Mark, 1.5 miles thats a haul...Texas is a 1 mile and the car is pushing really hard already. For sure, we need to get Sam on board and make this happen!

Manuel,
I know your muffler bearings were going out at your last race, you will need to get those replaced they are probably worth a couple miles an hour. If you want to do the mile you will need to do some midnight pulls with temps below 35 degrees with 2 to 3 degrees of negative slope. All this should give you a good idea of what your car won't do when actually competing against others on race day, but what the hell it looks good.

Cheers

Manuel - If you need some muffler bearings, we keep some here in NJ. They're right next to our cans of DA decreaser. We used them on Dave's car when he beat the US 1/4 mile record just 2 weeks after getting the car back.

I just ask that you don't share these with Mark, he might not have anything to whine about if you do.
