Hey Josh - not quite yet. It seems like an odd pair of cars to be cross shopping. I had a deal on a very nice 993 C2S and I lost out on it the day before I was going to get it PPI'd. I just found a lead on another 993 C2S that I will explore tomorrow.

In the meantime, if I can find a good price on the right colored GT3, I'd take it.

Can't you just get a dealer to run a locate on one? Or maybe directly from the Porsche web site?

I've done that. All are over MSRP and none are grey.

Figured you did. You mean they will not negotiate with a serious buyer? You know they have a boat load of profit built into the price!

That's a shame, good luck finding one, i love the iconic 993 but for a DD i found it too much of a worry with reliability (even if you find a great one it's still an older car) and lack of creature comforts compared to modern cars made me go with the 997.

I'm bored of the 997 though... I have car ADD and it's simply too good at everything it does and doesn't excite me so i'm listing it for sale this weekend. With that said - go for the 993 as it'll have more character.

I agree - the 993 is iconic. Its looks hold up so well against all Porsches in the last 20 years. The interior is very dated, but in doing my research, I've found a number of interior upgrades one could do to modernize it.

They'll negotiate because they've inflated their prices, but they won't negotiate nearly enough.

I'd much rather buy from a private seller who's figured out he can't afford it or doesn't drive it enough to justify the payment. I see no reason why these cars shouldn't go for 10% below MSRP (even though they're not right now). Besides, there aren't many atlas and slates out there.

Just keep diligently looking - I'm sure you'll flush out a deal. It's not like the economy is getting better.

Yes it will. And yes it has. I know of plenty of GT3s that went for under MSRP, including those for sale on this site. I either wasn't looking at the time or they weren't the right color ... for me. As Jamie says, the economy is getting worst, and many of the people who bought these cars can't afford them or want to cut down expenses.

I havent seen any go for under MSRP. Most buyers paid sticker or a bit over on the car, so when they trade it in you have to pay all the money for it as well.
