Ive been reading around on the web that common thinking is now not to necessarily powder coat paint callipers
But painting them with heat resistant paint is good enough if done properly.
Now Im thinking of giving it to my wheel refurb place to paint them in place to red from silver.
The advice he gave me from experience is that painted you dont get the following
1. Deep gloss finish
2. The laquer or gloss applied on painted callipers doesnt tend to last and starts to peel
So his suggestion was to just paint with a few coats of the paint colour but not coating.
Does anyone have any real world examples or advice...
We have a local guy that does many calipers for The local Lambo, Ferrari and Porsche dealers. He did my ATSV and it looks straight from the factory and after two track days and 20k DD miles they look as good as new. They are shiny and there is zero cracking and peeling.
He also did my Porsche and has done cars way more expensive than that. It may be the products he uses or his experience but painted looks awesome.
Some what. He does not completely remove it thus needing to reconnect the brake line and bleed the brakes but he does take the pins out, remove the pads etc and then paints them on the car.
No, I used VHT, it was recommended on one of the Porsche forums. I brought 2 cans of each to be on the safe side but in the end didn't even get through a full can of any of them, so I have 3 unused cans (Primer/Red/Clear Coat - 1 of each) and a set of decals going spare if someone wants to make me an offer.

Hey , may i ask where did you get the decals? I need some plan on doing mine but i cant find the caliper decals On ebay ..
Mine are ceramic coated with GTechniq C5, I have the silver color ones not red. It is really easy to keep clean now, the pressure washer does about all the work.
