Exhaust rant - why so damn loooooog?

It's beyond me - even for a car that they assume most owners will not modify the exhaust - why Porsche put a one piece exhaust on the Panamera from cat back. what a ridiculous decision. this is a porsche - exhaust mods are common place. why not supply a joint before the mufflers so aftermarket companies can supply just mufflers with joint connections? a simple bolt-on replacement. i'm also one who tends to keep original equipment items, in case a potential buyer wants to revert back or if it makes selling the car later easier. who can store this stock exhaust anywhere easily? i have a storage garage and it's still going to be a pita. i just don't understand this decision by porsche.

Agreed, they closed the door on making it easier to change the exhaust. What new exhaust did you go with?

I would imagine Porsche did this to save material and time costs.

I think you're right, fewer joints and pieces means quicker - cheaper assembly

i was very interested in that exact mid-pipe a few months back. i'm very curious what you have found in regards to drone at highway speeds and what mufflers used in combination. I like the h-pipe design for a turbo and i know turbos tend not to drone like a standard v8 would, so your feedback would be great. choice of mufflers? pleased with the overall sound?

still in the process of the final decision. just went through the same process with the tune choice - went with FVD there. i have been through this so many times, on so many cars, i now take my time, research and listen to them as best i can and then move forward. i usually run 200 cells on later porches, but i'm not going to do that at the moment. i've decided to leave it just to the catback portion. 200 cells really open up the sound, but i don't quite need that on this car. that said, i'm still looking for a set of largely unrestricted mufflers with or without the resonator.

No drone at all- Exhaust can not be heard at highway speeds.

stock mufflers or aftermarket muffler? were you simply looking for a bit more sound or performance?

OEM mufflers with Sport mode valves.

I wanted a bit more sound but primarly more HP/TQ which the FVD mid pipes deliver.
