Year: 2012 Make: Porsche Model: Cayman Price: $67500 Mileage: 23160 Color: black Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing Location (State): GA Transmission: Manual Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive
{ SOLD }
This 2012 Porsche Cayman R had one prior owner when I acquired it in January 2015 with 6,473 miles on the odometer. It is now just shy of 23,000 miles. All services are up to date.. It has the direct injection 3.4-liter six cylinder engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The only issues during my ownership have been correction of the lifting of the passenger window, loose header bolts, and a broken gear shift cable. All repairs were done by the Porsche dealership in Mechanicsburg, PA. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires have about 500 miles on them. The battery is approaching 2 years old.
The original owner installed an Evolution Motorsports performance package that included Fabspeed headers and exhaust (with cats), IPD intake plenum, a cold air intake, and a GT3 throttle body. The car idles like stock and has never shown a check engine light.
The original owner also deleted exterior decals and refinished the side mirrors and wing in black. The exterior is 9.5 out of 10, with the only blemish being a small spot on the right side of the hood near the windshield. This spot is probably only in the Xpel clearbra, which I had professionally applied to the front fascia, fenders, hood, mirrors, and behind the rear wheels.
The interior is 10/10, having never been eaten in, smoked in, or had a pet inside. The car has always been parked indoors. Factory options on this car include:
Sport Chrono Package
bi-xenon headlamps with cornering lights
auto-dimming mirrors
rain sensing wipers
homelink
navigation
heated, leather sport seats
automatic climate control
Bose surround-sound audio
satellite radio
alcantara steering wheel.
19″ SportDesign wheels
Polished aluminum fuel cap
Cup holders (never used)
Headlight washers
universal audio interface, including USB, Ipod, and accessory cable. There is also a slot for a sim card.
This Cayman R still presents as new. It will be sold with the original window sticker, factory manuals, two keys, and a clean Georgia title in my name. My “buy it now” price is $70,000.
Most of the pictures were taken prior to my moving from WV (~1,000 miles ago.) I now live about an hour north of Jacksonville, FL. The car still look the same. I prefer to be contacted by email initially (familydocrankin@hotmail.com) and eventually by phone.
This spot is ~3mm in size and is probably just a tear in the Clearbra6.

Reason: update
The TPMS light came on about a month ago so I purchased new ones, but the light went out so they are still in their boxes. Only the RF sensor triggered the light, but I bought new sensors for both front wheels. The rear sensors were replaced within the past couple of years.
I have all service records during my ownership. I have a Durametric scan tool that I will use to scan the sensors and look for any potential problems. That will add a few more miles to the car, but may go far to relieve any anxiety related to buying this car.

I guess I should have taken it to Kissimmee. Wow; the bidding has been high all week. Maybe I’ll consign it in July when Mecum comes to Orlando. It sure doesn’t hurt me to keep driving this excellent car.
Do you have a DME readout for the car. Most serious buyers won’t consider buying a manual Porsche without a recent DME readout. A track focused Porsche even more so. I am interested if the car has no or minimal track use and a clean DME report.
I have a Durametric tool. It shows an over-rev that occurred ~ 900 miles before I bought the car. I didn't get the Durametric tool until I considered selling the car b/c some people insist on one despite there being little proof that a single over-rev will cause any damage to the 987.2 engines. After seeing the DME, I sent an oil sample to Blackstone who gave my engine a clean bill of health. It has been 7 years and 17,000 miles since purchased with no problem.
I took the car on track a couple of times...who wouldn't want to experience a Cayman R without any of the restrictions of street-legal driving? At the time I took the car on track, I owned a race car (sports racer) and an HPDE car (with two seats) for giving students a ride. The Cayman wasn't stressed. I have nearly 18 years of track experience with about 350 track days. I remember an overshift just once, that occurred in a Corvette due to a broken motor mount. Hard to find 4th gear when the drivetrain is twisted.
I may not get back to any posts for a few days as I am a safety official working the IMSA races at Daytona starting this weekend. I'll answer additional questions when I have an opportunity.
As for price, there were a total of 6 Cayman R's sold on BaT in 2021: Average Price: $71,706 (not including the buyer's premium). Average Miles:26,741.
The Cayman R that recently sold had two over-revs and was admittedly driven hard, yet the price (bid + fees) was over $70k. Mine is priced below the average and has less than the average miles. The price is more than fair.
Two DME's: the first is easier to read. The second is from a couple of weeks ago.
Here are a few more pictures. The only picture of the top of the engine is the one of the IPD plenum (posted above), but I added a view of the headers from below.
