What are your thoughts/suggestions on it?
You can review it here: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/..._directory.php

We have that ability, it lists them aphabetically though, I have just added the Canadian provinces.
We do have a couple of vendors from the other side of the Atlantic, they just need to be manually added for sorting purposes.

Ed,
No one gives a crap about YOU. Its not all about YOU always
Vendor Directory is wasted space for actually improving vendor/user relations and sales. It shows by the only 7 or 8 posts here and the header is blatantly asking for feedback. Pull the stats and email the vendors the clickthroughs. Its probably VERY small.

These were all on the first page when I looked just now. These are all "promotion" threads that border the Classified Ad section. Sometimes these get moved, sometimes they dont. There is no clear cut. If the vendors have there own forums, they can put there own press releases in that section for all cars. If an Audi or Ferrari sponsor came to this forum, they have NOWHERE to try and sell items. Only Porsche classifieds? If they do their own marketing right, people will come and read and discuss. The Vendor Classifieds for only the Porsche sections are barely even used still. Seperate the sponsors and seperate the members. This forum needs a section like www.rx8club.com. I dont care if it is down below or on top.
Vivid Racing has NO problem with business, but many vendors here only advertise on this forum and we advertise on about 7. Now IB owns them all.

Dan - I think we have gone through this offline, but I couldn't see forums like rx8club working here (although am open to it if users/other vendors feel it would be appropriate).
I also think you miss the point of the vendor directory, its a service to our users, I don't know how many times a user has asked who carries "exhausts" only to not know what vendor carries what, and end up looking at google or yellow pages for a local vendor.
This gives them an opportunity for them to know who our vendors are, what they carry, where they are located and they know they are buying from people that have a reputation behind their business and they can easily find reviews and reach them.
In regards to traffic - its actually more than I expected, and its growing.

You missed the point of my entire post above. Look at all those Vendor related threads that take up page 1 of the 997 Turbo section. You are open to it, so try it, and I bet it works. There are many vendors that ***** and complain, but keep doing what they do cause this is the only spot. You say yourself there are "plenty" of vendors out there. But at the end of the day, some of these users are VERY loyal to the sponsors that are here and will follow them. Users dont ask who sells exhausts, they know who does, it is the sponsors job to promote the products in a forum that does not conflict with the general community. That is why you lose members, cause you have vendors fighting for business and traffic. Everyone is trying to hype what is new or they are doing. So your forums are becoming "look at me threads". This is the only forum out of a dozen I can list on the top of my head that does not have a specific for sale or vendor section. If it is a majority that you want, I will get a majority and for them to take a vote. Being listed in the Vendor Directory does not affect business nor does the banners, what makes a business successful on these or any forums is its involvement with the community. That is why the sponsors that own the vehicle succeed. If I went on the Ferrari forum, I would fail because I dont own the car...
Here is what I Propose
Duplicate what is on www.rx8club.com exactly that way for the paying sponsors that have a banner on the right of the screen.
Place this section as the number 1 spot in "The Marketplace"
Take Porsche classified sections that you created after my discussion with you make them inoperable and direct link to this spot in The Marketplace. Each vendor post can be moved accordingly to their supported section.
Delete the Group Buys section, which BTW was created with my input from previous owners, as it is not needed. Each sponsor vendor can use there section to do Group Buys etc. This section was a mistake and does not make sense.
Here is the BIG ONE, no vendors are allowed to create threads in the general sections if it involves anything related to marketing of their own products. Anything that has to do with a Press Release related item MUST go in there vendor section.
Once this is done, if someone wants to talk about the new AWE kit, EVO kit, or VR product, they do it in there specified forum like on RX8club.com and Evolutionm.net. It is there forum and they are responsible for it.
