Fix-It Ticket for Plates

So I got pulled over tonight for doing around 50mph in a 25mph zone, officer was very nice and gave me a fix it ticket instead. He gave me a fix-it ticket for not having plates on my car, since I purchased it in December. Now I have to go to the sheriff's station or wherever for them to make sure I put my plates. My issue is currently I don't have a front plate. Does anyone know if it's legal to put the plate on the dash or should I just double-side tape the plate to my bumper right before I get there and take if off after. Any suggestions?

Use a temporary non toxic adhesive or velcro to attach the front plate. Pull it off right after they sign off on the plate. Use a wax and cleaner over the area too.

This topic just came up with a friend of mine. He went to get it signed off and had used a strong double sided tape to attach the plate. The officer pulled the plate off and said "nice try". You actually have to secure it via a plate bracket or screws. If you get lucky the person signing it off won't get close enough to see but technically it's supposed to be "bolted" down.

i would not use a "temporary" method. there is a bracket that you can buy which inserts to the tow area on the bumper. it is secured and reversible. i think a member was selling them on the forum.. is it. JCS, i am not sure.

I double sided tape it whenever I get this ticket. Done it about a dozen times. Pull over about a block before I get to the CHP station, tape it on...sign it off........drive a block away and remove.

I have NEVER had an issue with this method If they do give you feedback ask to see something in the book where it has to be screwed on.

I have also used the temp method 5 times and never had an issue. They know you are going to take it off again!

The vehicle code says the plate has to be secure. That doesn't mean bolted on. Taped or whatever, as long as it won't fall off.

i always got to the chp station cause its free (save 15-20 bucks), but you are right they want it to be bolted down, last time the guy directed me to the nearest porsche dealer, he said they sell a special mounting bracket for it.
i had tried to ziptie it to my wire mesh in the bumper...
best way is to probably get the tow hook mount, unless you wanna make holes in your bumper or find a way to make it look like it is screwed in.
