Whats the best way to ship 4 boxes of used wheels to Toronto Canada? Fedex? UPS? US Postal?

I had UPS ship mine to Toronto. Just make sure you have every box labeled with a packing slip and invoice on each box, or it will get stuck and sent to inspections!!

 

THx! DO you remembered how much that run you? Im assuming the recipient would have to pay for duties and taxes as well?

 

I've used all the shipping methods mentioned as well as DHL. Apart from "misplacing" a wheel or two they seem to be able to get the job done. I would mark you boxes as "gifts" in order to avoid duty if you could.

I use Fedex Freight. That's the cheapest I've had as it ships to my plant so you don't have the residential drop fee tacked on. (must have dock doors for a trailer to back in) As for duties, it's an american product and it's "used" so there shouldn't be duty, just applicable taxes.

 

I gotta tell you guys about a nightmare that happened last summer. I shipped out 4 wheels to Canada last summer, FedEx freight. Get a call a couple days later telling me that they are stuck at customs and some B.S. about them not being street legal tires..... They were Pirelli P-Zeros. Anyway, the buyer told FedEX to drop ship the wheels off to his friends address in Oregon so he can just cross the border and bring them himself as well as avoiding them from being sent back to me and wasting my $250.00.

I even confirmed with several FedEx employees that they would be dropped off in Oregon, and not back to me. So after a week or so, I come home, and like a horror movie, I see 3 of the wheels sitting at my front door. Package is torn up, with the plastic barely hanging on, and faces exposed. Wheels obviously sustained some damage due to their incompetence. The 4th one comes 2 days later, same story, all damaged. I end up having to repackage the wheels and spend another $160 to send them out to Oregon. It was the most horrible experience ever. Basically, I will NEVER sell wheels out to Canada again.

I use fedex within the us and internationally and happy so far, no problems. I think it has to do with luck sometimes.

 

1. ship to po box in buffalo or nigara and have him clear customs himself and avoid brokerage fees
2. use fedex ground as their brokerage and handling fees are more reasonable than ups
3. us postal (with tracking); lowest handling fees

I realize the post requested US to Canada, so my idea won't work for him. However, if you are shipping within the us, Greyhound Freight (www.shipgreyhound.com) is very cheap for heavy items.
