RMS needs replacing with 7000 miles

My 99 996 has only 7000 miles. The car runs perfect. The engine looks clean enough to eat off it but late last weeek, I started to notice a few drop of oil on the floor. I took it in yesterday to find the RMS leaking. Problem isn't too severe yet but I went ahead to have it replaced anyway (it isn't cheap)

How prevalent is the RMS issue with 996? What can one do to prevent future reoccurences? With the work is relatively invasive and labor intensive, is there anything else I should look for as long as they are in there replacing the RMS? Thanks in advance for your help.

Another poster on a different thread was kind enough to inform me that the cost of replacing RMS should only run b/w $800 to $900. Can someone with past/present experience shed some lights into the economics of replacing this? Thank you

Good time to do a clutch if you need one, although unlikely at 7K miles.

7k mi is what probly contributed to the RMS. Not driven for long time such as winter storage tends to cause RMS. If you aren't driving it, you might as well sell it.
