Survey for Statistical Use in Autocross Guide

Hello, I'm performing a survey to collect information for statistical use in an autocrossing guide being produced for potential use by my college's sports car club (CSCC located in Clemson, South Carolina). My project's group is trying to gain as much insight as possible from all over the car spectrum (ranging from Porsches to Corvettes to Miatas) so if you see this survey posted on another forum, please do not answer it as we can only collect a limited number of responses.

Survey link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...LjGfJqTA_3d_3d

Mods, please feel free to move this to the correct forum if you feel it is in the wrong place.

My group will be checking the thread regularly so feel free to make suggestions, observations, or expand on the questions asked.

Thanks!

Not many autoxers here but good luck with your guide. I answered the survey questions. One question you may ask is how aggressive is someone willing to go to prep their car for autox, as a well prepped autox car is a little much for most daily-drivers and different than what one would do for roadcourse work.
I was an autoxer that moved to the track (not strip) and prepped my current car for roadcourse...This left a bit on the table and my caris not "autox-prepped".

Good luck,
TomK

I love AutoXing. It has made me a faster diver on the track as well. The only things I change from Track to AutoX are the tires and my sway bar settings. I probably could adjust the shocks but I'm afraid I'll get them messed up. THe GT3 sway bars make it easy to add or remover under/oversteer.

Good luck with the guide.

PS - I wish more guys here did autoX - it's lots of fun and would make them better dirivers.

I autocross almost every weekend, and this is my first year. My suspension has been maxed out for autocross too. I'm starting to get serious too and finished second for the season with my local Porsche club, instructor came in first. Tire pressures and temp checked after every run and I have a garden sprayer to cool them down if need be.
Here is a vid of my GT3 RS running of a Miata course. 40-50 degree day and I just could not get my cup tires warm. Slip slide city. My best run was 1:30 and a race prepped Miata ran a 1:23.

Answered your survey. You could use a few more answers for your questions. For example, the first question about getting in to autocrossing.

Done. For me on a tight course S2000 >
997S.

Too much push in the 997. On a fast course I'm sure the C2S would be better.

Nice Video, BUT,.....How'd you let a 1.8L car beat you by 7 seconds!

I know those little things can be wicked fast! Where are you located. We run a bunch of fast autox where your car would be perfect. Check out this video. Unfortunately this is the only run I taped before the battery died. Its my first run and I got there at 7am to help set up and they changed the first gate on me while I was talking to some newbee's. It's kind of funny! I let out a big "AW F*CK" at the first gate.

Congrats on a great car and a fun new hobby. Let me know if I can help answer any questions. I've been doing this for about 10 years and have be our Regions chair for the past two.

PS- several people asked me about the clunking noise - it was my passenger harness was banging on the back of my race seat.
