Champions are great track rims, lighter than stock wheels, will help when braking. Just watch your tire pressure, if the rear gets too hot the car will get greasy.

Check the pressure right after you come in from a session and bleed it off. After the first or second session you wont need to bleed it anymore. Then when it warms up on the track they will be perfect.

What pressure do you run, you must run different tires with your track car, what about fuel? I've got the ECU tweaked to handle 103 fuel if its available? Summit point.

thanks Raiyu

Pressures depend on tires.

Ive run Michelin Pilot Sport Cups that I liked a lot, 31-32 in the front when hot, 32-33 in the rear.

Also used the Toyo R888s, which I found to be very noisy, ran them about the same, 32-33 front, 32-34 rear.

I just mounted Michelin PS2s today, I want to see if I get more tire life out of them then the Cups, and I dont think that my driving is good enough to warrant the Cups yet.

I run the same tires street and track so I see whats a good middle ground, and what wont cost me an arm and a leg. Planning to do 30 track days this year, so tires at $1800 a set is something Im keeping my eye on.

As for race fuel, I know that Watkins Glen has their pumps open and has 100. Last time I was at NJMP they didnt even have pumps installed yet.

Summit Point I dont recall where I used to fill up there so I dont remember if they had 100 or not.

No, it will be that you will be threshold braking into a turn and the tip will not downshift fast enough or to a high enough RPM. That is the issue I ran into with my Tiptronic but it took a good year or so for me to surpase the Tiptronic. You will be fine for awhile, so go enjoy yourself with your car and leanr all the driving skills. If you ever get to drive the Tip at Barber, it is the faster transmission than a 6speed!

Autocross results

Too all those who gave me advice:

I took the car out for some autocross, I'm really waiting to get on the track but thats what was available.

A good time but very tuff to manage the tiptronic and the turbo on this short course, no PSM. Drove it in manual in first gear because second gear would launch the turbos late

Smashing the throttle to get launched 3-5 sec later was just to much to try and get right..

What a blast with the few mods this car is built for a road course.

thank you for all that gave me your advice

Badbruno
