Vette or Porsche - Road Racing
Vette or Porsche - Road Racing
I currently own a GT2 (highly modified in every way) and a 2012 TTS.
I have raced my vettes but having second thoughts about racing my P-Cars on the track (Unless it is a Porsche organized event with not too many cars). I was thinking about buying a C5 Z06 or a C6 Z06 for RR as I would'nt cringe with every small mishap.
I can buy a C5 and upgrade the suspension, add safety equipment, and bring the HP up to 550-600 WHP on either one. I am not out to win trophies but more or less just have fun. What do y'all think? I have also thought about just buying a cerrtified GT3.

If it's only for the running track days, get the C6Z and call it a day. This is coming from someone w/ 4 911's, 3 of them are Cup's and has owned a C6Z and currently has a ZR1 street car.

Any Year model 09+ C6Z. Has the added capacity on the oil tank ( cures long left hander starvation issues on slicks) updated Bosch ABS ( HUGE improvement over 06-08 year model cars) and updated syncros in the gearbox for cold weather shifting.
Depending on the track and your driving style, I would add:
Cobalt XR2 or CSR 1 piece pads ( Gets rid of the padlet design)
Stainless brake lines and good fluid ( Stocks melt with aggressive drivers)
harness bar/race seat
I can go on.And on. And on. Just tell me what you want to know
The C5Z is 350 rwhp in stock form, the C6Z is 460 rwhp in stock form.
The C6Z is FAR superior than the C5Z, but it is more fragile, and 2.5x the cost.
