Ding ding, it's hard to tell depth from the photos, but I wouldn't feel comfortable driving around in a car with a rollcage without wearing a helmet. Who wins in a fight....skull or metal tube? I wouldn't want to find out the hard way.

Boxster S... Im biased though. There are a few AS class autoX that are succesful in them, but the S200 are the norm there... however, the boxster S is a surprisingly quality DD. Actually has a ton of storage space... I have never regretted getting mine.

Sorry, I usually put in the disclaimer that the pics were taken after I installed the bar but prior to the pad installation. The bars are wrapped with this stuff:

I also remove the cage if I'm not going to be going to the track for a while (15 minute job, only because I'm slow).

Right now I am considering:

2005-2007 Honda S2000

I am working on a budget of 35k or under so any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Thanks
Boxster S is an awesome car but can be hard to work on if you do things yourself. S2000 handles great but has no torque and is pretty small inside. Keep in mind you would need rollover protection to track either one. If you want to go beyond autocross that is.

What about an E46 BMW M3?

Sort of on topic, but does the s2000 have the same "broomstick" helmet clearance issues that the Boxster has for tall drivers?

Also, Boxsters are very easy to work on unless you are planning on dismantling the engine. Things like brake pads, oil changes, brake bleeding, suspension adjustment, air cleaner replacement, MAF replacement and other maintainence items are very straightforward and can be done with pretty much basic tools. For comparison, try changing the plugs on a Dodge Stealth TT sometime (BTDTGTTS).

Either the S2K, or an STi. Both are great cars, 1 has AWD 1 doesn't. Both very reliable.

The e46 is a great car, I really enjoyed my 03 and have been thinking about another one. I think what it really boils down to for me is what I can find the best deal on. As I trade cars around frequently I usually go for the best bargain. 27 cars in four years is too many, I just need to chill.

So I am still looking but getting anxious to get some track/ auto x time.
