Why no Lambo racing teams?

First off, I'm a casual racing fan, not hardcore, so I may be wrong in my original assessment. I was watching the Rolex GT series today and I saw several teams running Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, Audi, Corvette, etc..., but no Lambo. Why not? I'm sure a team running Gallardo Superlegerras could compete with the best of them. Please enlighten me.

Skip Barber and Tracy Krohn ran Lamborghini in ALMS a few years ago. They were Mercys' and they were horrible, they got no factory support. No Audis and Ferraris in GT. Most of those cars are all factory built racecars with established teams running them. Lamborghini doesn't offer a factory racecar, and if you converted it, it would not be that competitive.

Edit: Talking about America.

I believe Reiter Engineering is the only factory backed Lambo race team in existence.

You only saw Porsche, Pontiac, Corvette, Mazda and the Nissian 350Z (only on start grid, did not make a lap) in the Rolex GT class. However next year there will be a lot more manufactures getting into Rolex GT racing!

I am not sure that we'll see that many more manufacturers but more teams. Mazda has been impressive this year as well as Pontiac. It will be interesting to see exactly what teams, drivers and car/manufacturers are announced in the coming months.

It was Dick Barbour, not Skip Barber. Otherwise, Minid is correct.

There was a Lambo at 24 of Les Mans this year. it was Japan Owners Club, one of them wrecked before the race and the car retired very early on.

Lambo still has the more show than go image. its working for them right now.

besides the several teams with gallardos in GT3 class there is also the all-inkl.com murcielagos in GT1 class

also, contrary to what some have said the cars are not garbage. they have had some success. this years FIA GT championship proves that. they won the first race at zhuhai and came in second at bucharest so far this season. the obligatory podium pic
