The stock ecu works wonders after tuning('99 not included). Standalone would be like adding webers.

We have been doing this for a while and we have built cars using a lot of options such as motec. What we have going on now with routine switching and the stock ECU is the best option.

If you are interested, I have a brand new never installed TEC 3R with sensors. Originally to be used with my NSX turbo but went with the AEM FIC. Aem standalones are very good but can have some start issues as compared to the TEC3 at least in NSX applications. At least in the past, TEC3 has been used frequently with Porsche and at least around here, the TEC3 tuners have been Porsche specialists.

fast996 I got your PM, but I can't respond due to not having my 15 required posts, so figured I'd respond here. Let me know what you end up finding out. I have an AEM on my boosted S2000 and it works great, no start up issues since it's been tuned by the guys at Slowmotion in Ohio.

I'm currently looking at two different 99 C2s and was eventually thinkin about runnin a low boost single turbo set up.

Casey@TPC what do you guys do about the 99's without the drive-by-wire? I'm also curious as to the limits of the 3.4L motor and tranny?

Hope you don't mind me jumpin in on your thread fast996

We would have to do a cable throttle turbo system in house... that isnt mail order unfortunately. The engine in the cable throttle car is comparable(aside from fueling) to the 2000/1 cars. those make ~420 happy whp when we are done.
