Most standalones will use the 60 -2 flywheel that the 996 uses. Running the cam retard, high lift and the fly by wire are somethings to think about controlling with the unit you pick.

Yes. no drive by wire. no varo cam. no high lift. Why would you put a standalone on a 3.4L N/A motor? Do you plan on swapping a gt-1 motor and matching trans in there?

i was thinking about a custom turbo setup, see how much power i can get out of the stock 3.4 on the '99 C2

Just wanted to see who installed a standalone and wired in the harness

the m96 motor blows for holding power (rods, block, crank in a cradle, and intermediate shaft) however the heads look like they will make some power. The tranny is in worse shape.

400ish rwhp. No one really tries to push them. A few supercharger kits I did made 425 rwhp @ 5-7 psi of boost. TPC Racing make a turbo kit. If you lowered the compression and reinforced the deck (it is open) put rods in there and update the intermediate shaft you could make some power. You would also reset the lobe separation for turbo use and maybe regrind the exhaust cam for some more duration. I can see 600 on the wheels. The tranny was built to just handle the streets. the turbos and GT3/2 all use the gt1 motor and similar trannys that can handle up to 700hp/700ft lbs of torque with little problems on the streets and mild track use gt car fare better do to oil coolers.

The tranny is all pressed together no splines. Call Gbox for more info. I believe you need a 60 ton press and some heat to work on them. the 3.8s box it a little stronger and has taller gears that would help the turbo build load.

E85 will help you to take advantage of the high compression. But it is still a N/A piston and ring set. If it is what you want then go for it.

I'm glad you asked this question because I was JUST looking around tryin to find information on doing a custom set up on a 3.4L or 3.6L 996. I'm currently looking at two 99's. Does it make a difference on the durability of the motor if it's the 3.6L from the 02-04s?

Fast996, do you have some one to do the fabrication? I'm in NE Indiana, and my friend owns Neukin Motor Developement and he might be interested in doing the work if you don't have anyone.
