Phaeton Facelift revealed
Phaeton Facelift revealed
VW has updated its Phaeton flagship. It comes onto the market with a fundamentally new front design. A new powertrain lineup includes six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines ranging in capacity from 240 horsepower to 450 horsepower. The most fuel efficient model packs a 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel and returns a fuel economy (European combined cycle) of 27.7 mpg yet can accelerate the car from 0-62 mph in 8.2 seconds and see it reach a top speed of 147 mph.
Coming as standard across the range is a 4Motion all-wheel drive system, air suspension, bi-xenon headlights, 18 inch alloy wheels, 4-zone air-conditioning, 18-way adjustable seats and leather and Alcantara trim.
VW is yet to confirm if the updated car will be sold in the U.S. but rumors of such have been brewing, off and on, for almost two years. The return now looks more likely than ever, with the brand’s American CEO Jacoby previously stating it's time for a comeback for the big sedan, and this update could be just what they needs to get the ball rolling.

I saw the "new" Phaeton at the Leipzig show in Germany. The vehicle is incredible in person, but I have to agree that the A8, 7 series and Panamera are better. It will fail in the US. VW's brand position does not play with the big boys. They should focus on getting the Scriocco and GTI-R spec to the US instead!
The A8 for me is a great sedan (Going to get the new one in maybe a year or so) not one fault on my current A8, put 100K in 4 years and its 100% bulletproof, love the styling (tame for a DD) and the ride is great, amazing amenities, and a great value (a comparably speced S was going 93-94K the A8 was 78K MSRP then haggle. I love the Panamera but for me its abit look at me for a DD and also mighty expensive for something put 25-30K a year on... the Phaeton wont sell in the US due to the name VW and 60+ Price. in America its all about the brand name. Less so in Europe. Ah well its a great car for the money!
I think if Hyundai's new Equus sells well over here, we could see the Phaeton here. Should be priced similarly (high 60s), so if Hyundai can sell them at that price VW might be able to sell the new Phaeton.
If anyones looking for one I am selling mine now No Reserve. Its a nice clean car that has been a great daily driver for us. Hope it finds a good home.
