HRE bends easily?

I am pretty close to buying some HRE C20s for the 997S, but last night a local shop owner told me that they bend very easily. I had BBS RS-GTs on an earlier car and they were very strong. Am I better off going with forged BBS again? I really like the C20s, but I don't need wheels out of round if I hit a pothole.

Thanks in advance for your replies...

No such thing as a wheel that won't bend, but I can tell you NOBODY in the wheel industry uses the technology BBS uses in their forging and flowforming techniques. Wheel strength is partially achieved through spoke pattern as well. The BBS spoke pattern is a big contributor to their strength. A 5 spoke wheel offers a lot of unsupported area that allows the wheel to move when impacted. Forged centers mean a decrease in weight, but don't necc. mean a stronger wheel. The barrel section is where 95% of wheel damage occurs. Nobody that I am aware of flowforms the barrels but BBS, and it's twice as strong as a casted lip.

So I guess the answer (here and to the PM I sent you) is to just stick w/BBS. I loved my RS-GTs on my Evo, so I won't exactly be "bummed".

Yes ive been hearing that as well. So has this been happening more often with HRE as opposed to other companies?

I can't imagine putting TE-37s on a P-car. Heresy... That's like putting BBS on an Evo... oh, wait, I did that once.

Relax, man - reread my post... I was using irony since I put BBS on a Japanese car while you put Volks on a German car. Get it? They look great on your car. I need to show that pic to my buddy (subgraphic) - he has a Boxster S that those would look great on.

I agree totally - I am trying to find out if there is a PASM issue with lowering springs. Hans from Ruf says he has the answer, but I am waiting to hear which brand(s) are ok.

That will be my next mod - at least until I can afford the Ruf Rt12 bodykit and Kompressor...

hre's have a crack policy that they fix they wheels if cracks, it does not cover if the wheels does bend but if it cracks they will fix it.
