Upgrade 997.1 to 997.2

My 07 C2 manual is going fine at 23,000km but I'm wondering if I should upgrade. Have others made this move? Happy with the result? I'd want a manual again, so it is really down to the engine and other upgrades.

Unless you have a lot of money burning a whole in your pocket, I would keep the car you have now.

23,000km is nothing, keep it at least 4 years to get maximum usage and value out of your car.

same here. The resale/trade-in values are depressed and not worthwhile in my opinion for a few refinements in the 997.2

I would keep it unless you really want a change.

how much money do you want to pay for an additional 20hp? if you upgrade you'll surely be in the lurch for at least 30K, which comes out to about 1.5K per bhp. If that were my money i'd be more likely to go out and buy a BMW 135 or a used 335 for the difference and have another little rocket to poot around in rather than spend the money on something with negligible difference.

get the 2010 GT3 - that would be an upgrade that one could "justify". Other than that, I agree with all comments above.

Yep, used 997.2 GT3 would be the way to go without getting soaked by the stealer. If you can find them available readily in Australia that is.

I'd rather have a 997.1 GT3 over a 997.2 C2/C2S for that matter/

Thanks for the comments - and sensible advice.

Looks like not too many here have made the switch yet - I thought there would be a few who have upgraded, given that the early 997s are getting long in the tooth by now.

No real interest in a GT3 - I prefer the C2S for all round practicality and looks.

Anyway, since I'll probably be keeping it, here's my car....

It will cost you 40 grand to make the move into a 2010 car . By then yoir car will have 27K miles and be near the 30K mile service . That's when the move woild be better . The cars are so similar though .. how about a used Turbo?

I guess I was wondering if the new model is a big step up, but I'm not hearing this.

Love the plate number!

I had a few 666 plates in my days.

What is the issue about the 30K service?

30K mile service costs a few bucks and places the 07 car 20K mi away from his end of warranty . Plus routine wear service like brakes, tires , etc can start to add on to a car taht he is ready to exit now (from his post). If he has the itch to buy that would be a good time to ditch his current car . It has enough miles and warranty left to attract a buyer yet enough wear on the car to still get out without sinking too much more money into it.
