Can you activate Sport mode without having SportChrono Package?

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, tried to do a search for this question but didn't seem to find an exact answer, (and got inundated with information).

I recently purchased a 2007 Turbo but the previous owner did not get the Sports Chrono package. I am really just curious if there is a way to activate the mechanics of the Sport button (the overboost) even though the button is missing. I'm kinda working under the assumption that the internals of the car are the same and they just excluded the button/clock, but that you could tell the system/ECU to keep the boost high if you knew how. It would be ideal if it was something as simple as a toggle on 2 terminals somewhere in a diagnostic cluster or something? I did read how reprogramming the ECU can give you comparable performance but this car is still under warranty so I was hoping for a more 'covert' option that could be removed easily.

Anyways, its not like the car is NOT fast enough, just curious about accessing hidden potential.

Sports mode is a program in the ECU. It changes several engine parameters and activates PASM among other things. The button tells the ECU to activate the programming. If you do not have Sports Chrono, you do not have the programming. You can obtain something similar with reprogramming the ECU with a flash, but it will not be "sports" mode.

Softronic (or any ECU flash) can offer similar or better performance than the factory sport mode, but nobody can "activate" sports mode on a non-Sports Chrono car with an ECU flash. It may be semantics, but the differentiation if important.

Sport Mode consists of no hard parts or modules. It is activated through the CAN line of programming. This can be done by a PIWIS with proper code at a dealer or as I said Softronic. This is only to control the Sport Mode feature of throttle response. This will not make your non PASM car have PASM or add a Chrono feature to pop up on your dashboard.
