Dealership says NO to ANY mod ?
Dealership says NO to ANY mod ?
Hey guys,
Recently had a chat with the dealership about installing an exhaust system( the sharkwerks bypass to be exact) and they told me that ANY modification to the car (catbacks, air intakes, ) will void my warranty. i thought it would only void the warranty on the exhaust but they made it clear that even the engines warranty will be voided ! that's just rediculous.....
To my knowledge, i think that dealerships in the US are ok with such mods?
If Porsche are accepting such mods, shouldnt all dealerships worldwide also follow that rule ?
i guess what im trying to say here is , If i decide to install an exhaust and they declare that my warranty is voided....Will i be able to get any support from Porsche on the issue ?
p.s , any members here that ran into a similar situation?
thanks in advance!

In the US there is a particular law that states that the warranty is void only if it is proven that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure of the factory part. You would have to see if a similar law exists in your country.
The warranty coverage is by PCNA in North America, you warranty coverage is by the local parent company. They can cover what they want for as long as they want, and can put in there own limitations. Try another dealer and see what they say.

Hmm not sure if there is such a law here....ill have to look into it..

I found out that this is in fact a new policy and that the dealership itself installed mods in the past ( gemballa, techart, etc..) but for some reason decided to go against that policy. The only thing that has recently become "ok" to install are .......exhaust tips !!
Try to find a different dealership or a shop that specializes in tuning or aftermarket parts. That's pretty bogus, especially for an exhaust. It's not like you're replacing the cylinder head or anything.

I know how dealer are stupid back home and I get all these comments regarding voided warranty all the time. A guy at the dealer wanted to void my warranty just because I had gemballa spoiler on my cayenne WTF. Best advice is to find someone who works at the shop and build a good relation with him otherwise your warranty is voided no matter what

I remember reading a post of a Turbo owner in Dubai whose dealership would not even change the wheels . My guess is that you are at the same dealership. It woild be hard to find the post and I may not be accurate but I think I recall he said it was the only dealership and he was somewhat confused as to how to handle it .
There are more posters from your region on the Turbo forum and many of their cars are modified. Perhaps you might ask in that section and get a better answer .

I ran into the same issue with the dealership in Bahrain..
These guys are becoming too strict.. the service manager told me: porsche spent million and millions on R&D to make such a great car.. why would u want to install aftermarket parts which r not proven..
I have the sharkwerks bypass, and installed it on my own it doesnt take alot of time to install or uninstall, buy the tools and do it at home
or find a garage that would do it for ya..
