Anyone running a Powerflex transmission mount inserts?

Getting reading to replace my original 996tt transmission mount with a new 997 one. I'm wondering if anyone is using the Powerflex trans mount inserts with their 997 trans mount.

Thanks

Strange. They list the 997 part number that is compatible with. I'll just buy the trans mounts first and see I guess.

Are you using 997 trans mounts or 996 ones?

It's not filled with rubber Steve. What you see are paper thin remains from the mold. You can just push right though them with your finger. you have voids there but they are much smaller than on the original 996 mount. As such, you can put the Function first or the power flex stiffeners in there. The power flex stuff is probably just rebranded function first stuff.

John, do you only run the 997 trans mount? Have you ever tried the powerflex or function first inserts or even a semi solid bushing like Torque Solution? Powerflex is like 1/3 of the price of function first inserts and just debating if I should give them a try or not. They are cheap enough and easy to remove if they are too rough for the street.

Yes, I run the stock 997trans mount, Cup shift cables, Cup shifter and 964RS semisolid engine mounts. I have no shifting issues whatsoever. I have tried polyurethane trans mount bushings inserts, the ones that you have to press out the stock bushings and press in the PU ones. I could tell zero difference in shifting quality only a ton more noise. Swapped back to the 997 trans mount. I think if you have secured the engine/trans combo down with semisolid engine mounts, you have already firmed up 2 of the 3 mounting areas that support the whole engine/transmission mass. Because the 3 mounting points are triangular, there is really very little movement that can happen at that point if you think about it.

I know many guys will swear by the SS trans mounts and that's great. I suspect there may be sort of a placebo effect, kinda like a loud exhaust making the car seem faster (yes, flame away guys) but I personally just didn't see any benefit of the trans mounts. If I did, I'd have them on my car without a doubt. Hope that helps.

Thanks John. I run 7GT3RS shifter and semi solid engine mounts. Seems like doing a 997 trans mount will be sufficient for my needs.
