MAF part numbers and issues...can anyone help?
So apparently there are two part numbers now for the TT MAF? the one in my car is:
Porsche #:996 606 124 00
Bosch #: 0 280 218 009
And the one i got from Autohaus Arizona
Bosch - 0280218055
Porsche - 98660612501
The issue I have is that I put the new part in yesterday and when i drove last night had high idling problems which seemed to go away after a while - and today it was idling high again threw the code for "high idle at stop" or something similar (i can look it up if necessary). So when i got home i cleared the code and started back up and seemed fine, but then started doing it again. I then swapped back to the stock software map (using UMW software since Wednesday) and that didnt seem to make a difference, but then when i swapped back to the 1bar map, it wouldnt even really idle - like would stumble and die and then lit up an ABS Failure, PSM failure, etc. and when i ran the code again it gave a MAF failure.
I swapped back to my old MAF - Bosch #: 0 280 218 009, and it seemed fine. No high idle or nothing.
Could it be a faulty MAF? or do i have another issue? I have hoses on the way which will be swapped by Thursday, so i suppose if i have a vacume leak I will know/solve it then, but i was just wondering if anyone had any experience.
BTW - I had thrown that error code once before as well with the old maf, where it had idled a little high, but then didnt seem to be an issue again - probably a week or so ago. thats when i ordered the new maf.
TIA

Yeah, that thing was the wrong MAF, getting RA# from the retailer.
BTW - The MAF referenced in this post is not the right one - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ight=maf+price
Make sure to ask for the Bosch #: 0 280 218 009
Looks like this place has the right ones listed for about the same price - www.europartsdirect.com

Actually there have been 2 updates to the MAF:
996 606 124 00 is the first version of the e-gas sensor, and was put in new e-gas cars until January 31, 2000. Then the "improved" second version 986 606 125 00 went into production, and that part number is now superseded by 986 606 125 01, which I will call the third version....from Renntech (per tool Pants and Lauren...I think they know their sh*t):
Renntech post on correct MAF.
The one I linked to is the correct one...I have been running it without incident.

I get back Friday and would be happy to swing by to take a look.

This RennTech thread says that the TT should retain the 124 00 maf part number - http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...opic=414&st=60
...ugh.

Im cool with trying to exchange for an 124 00, but if there is a reason for the update - like a better maf, then i would rather do the new one...
