Anyone know these symptoms

Couple days ago I was driving my car and i heard some spring noise appear from engaging the clutch while shifting. It happened a few times then it stopped. The next day i felt something weird and different from shifting. The clutch was more stiff and also it did not kick back all the way like it used to. My clutch is in good condition I know its not burnt. When I shift from first to second I hear a big thump and it does not shift smoothly. It happens less in the higher gears. After shifting from first to second my car would sometimes start jolting and shaking. Also happens in other gears. Clutch is not stiff, moves around from side to side about .5 inch and does not shift properly. Did anyone else go thru with this with their 996.

Also I just called the dealership and they told me the clutch springs might need to be replaced as well as the whole clutch system considering it is a 10 year old car. It has 53k miles and I cant justify replacing a clutch that soon. Please Advise.

Could be, Porsche clutches have a tendency to go sooner than others. That said, it could also be the slave cylinder because the clutch peddle is not coming all the way back. I'd start with that and the master cylinder.
With the jolting it sounds like the clutch is not working correctly.

It could be as simple as the Clutch spring. It is located on the clutch pedal and they go bad and can make the clutch behave strangely. The clutch works fine without the spring (although it is heavier) and I took mine out completely.

Took it to the shop this morning and the new was not good. It turns out to be the slave cylinder, the springs and pressure plates. In other words needs everything. Since a new clutch will be installed I have also decided to do the IMS bearings install. Total estimated cost is looking to be around 3700. Issue is not unheard of but can happen to any other 996, so when u hear the springs crack or break, beware.

Yea price is reasonable but its the inconvenience and unexpected expense for a clutch and IMS at 53k miles. I was planning to replace it at at least 90 or 100k.

You may want to have them do the RMS (rear main seal) while they are in there.
BTW, what part of the county are you in? I had all three (clutch/RMS/IMS - no slave cylinder) done for $2500 in the San Francisco Bay Area by a reputable shop.
