Great looking car! Black realy makes the 4S even better

Regardning the interiror, I did some clustergauges, led lights, and painted center console. Came out really nice, and took like 5-10 years of the car, feel free to check out my thread with all my mods:

Definitely agree about the interior, not sure what they were thinking when they designed it. Will check out your mods maybe I will see something of interest. Would like to swap out the ancient NAV radio with something newer. Seen some nice ones that I googled awhile back but after this latest work this will be on the back burner for sometime.

I could use some tips on how to get the headlights restored. Previous owner did not take care of them it seems and they are foggy with some scuffs also. Tried the tooth paste trick which did not help much. Then tried some turtle wax head light kit and that was a waste of time as well. Any ideas?

The 3M brand with the sanding attachments is what you want. Also don't forget to coat and maintain the lenses afterwards with some UV inhibitor.

I just took my car to an auto detailer. Best $75.00 I could have spent. Went thru that same process after trying different stuff and wasting time and money to no avail. A lot of those over the counter headlight restore products did not work for me. Some jobs on the P-car are best left to a professional.

Also depending on your interior, you may want to get a professional detailer to do the inside as well, at least once initially since your purchase. Now as far as the exterior, I wash, wax and generally baby my car to the extreme. My wife thinks I'm obsessed, and I am, and it's okay. lol

At first you could try some rubbing compound if they are not too faded. The 3m kit is good but you may not need to sand. I did my lenses on my dd with the 3m and the paste was nothing but rubbing compound which with a little elbow grease did the trick. So I keep some around and every time I wash it I use it.

Or someone that does professional quality job and has all the right techniques. Not all DIY'ers possess the right kind of skills and the Porsche is sometimes not the ideal candidate to learn on or make mistakes with for first timers.

Ok good to know, will try these suggestions or look for a quality detailing shop. It has bothered me since I got the car and would like to get them gleaming as close to clear as possible.

Doesn't sound too bad. My initial hit on a 99 with 85K miles:

$4500 at an Indy

Oil/filter
plugs
water pump
AOS
LN IMS bearing
RMS
Serp. Belt
Tip service
Coolant flush
Air filter

My car had all original stuff, no leaks. A lot of the above is 90K service stuff. I wanted the IMS bearing done and the AOS/RMS is a no brainer with the engine pulled. It's more labor to pull the motor with a Tip as well. Water pump had some play in the shaft so it was due. I'm doing most of the work now on it myself.

Just amazing the labor rate that is charged now for most mechanics. The shop that did my work was for $125 an hour, laughed a bit after seeing the sign
