New guy! 996 Cab Project thread

Hi!

Well, I posted some questions Before, but I thought I introduce me, and of course my car proberly.

I am kind of new to the porscheworld. Bought a 996 Cab 01 last summer and drove it like I stole it until the Winter came

So right now its in the garage and I have begun to take it a part to modify it to the ultimate porsche cab. Or at least the ultimate porsche cab imho

The pics are from last summer when I bought the car.

The car has only ca 35 k miles on it, and wery few owners.

After browsing the intire picturethread i realized as I said above, I have to do some modifcations on the car.

So what will I do with it? Well as I am an oemguy, I will as far as possible stick to OEMmodification.

Here is the list (so far):

Winter 2013:

* Alupedals - Done!
* New steeringwheel (Porsche GT3 RS Black Alcantara) - Done!
* Led interior kit - Done!
* Porsche oem GT3 front - Done!
* Porsche oem GT3 side skirts - Done!
* New tires (changeing from 265 to 285 in the rear), Done!
* Alu clusterrings, Done!
* Black porsche center Wheel caps, Done!
* Porsche sport exhaust - Done!
* Evoms Cold air intake, Done!
* 30 mm lower H&R springs - Done!
* Spacers - Done!
* Black lug bolts - Done!
* Install a nonsmoker kit, - Done!
* Shoulder pads - Done!
* Change the logo on the black to "911" in black - Done!
* Carbon fiber mirrors - changed my mind, are going black painted same as rims! - Done!
* IPD Plenum - Done!
* ECU flash - Done!
* New belt - Done!
* Depo led tail lights 997 style -Done!
* 997 Gen2 GT3 shifter. - Done!
* Change color of the rims to black with a chrome edge - Done!
* Painting the center console in silver - Done!
* Change the enginemounts to RSS semimounts - Done

--- UPDATE GO TO PAGE 7 FOR WINTER 2014 ---

Winter 2014:

* Paint the brake calibers yellow - Moved to Winter 2015 list
* Change ther brake airducts to the ones from 997 GT - Done!
* 200 cells racecats from Cargraphic - Done!
* Remove back seats - Done!
* Euorpe GT3 bucket seats - Done!
* New waterpump - Done!
* New thermostat - Done!
* Flush the coolant system - Done!
* Some serious Clean up and polish of the car - Done!
* Iphonecable to the stereo - Done!

Summer 2015:

* Porsche OEM Rollbar - Done!

--- UPDATE GO TO PAGE 9 FOR WINTER 2015 ---

Winter 2015:

* Nonoptional Deep cleaning of ther car inside and outside
* Paint the calipers yellow - was on my list last year but never came around to do it
* Install a Porsche Cab Aero Wing
* Remove the noncutout piece in the middle of the bumper to make room for a 3:rd radioator
* Install a fireextinguisher - hmmm should I put it on the rollbar or on the front right seat
* Install black mesh grills in the front bumper
* New yellow pagids front and back with new rotors - Done

When i removed the frontbumper, I cleaned the radiators, wow! If you havnt done that yes on your own car - do it!

I spent several hours in the garage just cleaning the car, escpicially the leather, it was so dry! What a diffrence a couple of hours can make to the interiror! I also polished the paint, so the car realy shines now.

Ok, so i will be posting some more pics, when i recieve the things i ordered, and when the Project moves on.

Cheers for now!

(Last pic is how she looks now!)

Yes, its a bit smaller and much more thicker. Compared to the normal 996 steeringwheel its much more nicer.

There is a similar steeringwheel called T96. Its kind of the same size but look more like oem.

Here is a Picture with the GT3 RS steeringwheel installed, and center console removed.

It is curently away to be painted in the same colour as the car.

I'd really like to have a GT3 steering wheel. But I currently have a 4 spoke wheel( and thus need the 3 spkoke airbag) and that upgrade would be really expensive. Looks great though!

Yes, I know, seams like all oem-parts cost a fortune my tip is ebay, you can find quite a lot good used parts there.

I have seen the steering wheels going for about $1200 and another $500 for the airbag. Too rich for me. That money can buy other parts that can directly affect performance. Maybe if I win the lottery but then I'd buy he rest of the GT3!
