Worth it to upgrade PCM to have apple CarPlay?

Depends on if it is worth it to you. You will be the best judge of that. I wouldn't, just because I have an entirely new replaced system that does it all, and got that terrible sounding attempt of a system out first thing. I'd say replace your whole system instead.

CarPlay is the one thing I really wanted when I was shopping replacement vehicles for myself and wife back in May. Yet neither vehicle, 2015 Cayenne S and 2015 C63S has support for it. If an update was available to get it then I would definitely consider it for the Cayenne but probably boil down to cost as to whether I would do it or not. I really would want it to better integrate the GPS/Maps off the phone more than any other reason.

You do understand the phone MUST be plugged into the USB port for car play to work. That is a big drawback for me.

Any way to get this on the Cayenne? Any PCM upgrade?
Thanks

I'm not "BOOSTTT" - but if he is talking about his Cayenne - his is a 2004. And the PCM in that is nothing at all like the one in your vehicle. Your's is rather tightly tied into the vehicle - and replacing it and retaining all the functions it controls isn't a trivial thing.

This.
I have it. I don't really care for it. It doesn't really do much that PCM didn't do already. It uses a familiar iphone home screen icon look.
It can read my texts to me, other than that it's useless. In some cases your PCM controls your iphone screen too. My son can't play iphone app games on my phone while I'm listening to music from my phone.

After being in a couple different loaners with it I am not overly impressed with it either.
Having access to up to date navigation is nice, but CarPlay reminded me why I hate Apple Maps so much since that for my needs tends to be a lot less reliable than Google Maps. I use Pandora most of the time when driving, sometimes CarPlay gave me the Like/Dislike buttons on the main screen and sometimes not, nice to have easier access to that but not something I really need or want to use much. The phone having to be plugged in for it to work is kind of an annoyance since really no where to conveniently put the thing. Overall the things I all mentioned already get done via BT for me, just do not display on the car screen. I do agree it is nice to continue to hand the phone over to my kid for them to mess around on it while I am still using the phone for music and/or navigation over BT.

Aftermarket unit from eBay or like, for native pcm3.1
Upgrade to original pcm4 system. Not cheap, and hard to do. But all parts are original Porsche.
