11th Annual Concorso Ferrari Highlights As Seen By 6SpeedOnline
Brighten up your day with a gallery of pictures from the 11th Annual Concorso Ferrari held in Pasadena, California.
Pasadena, CA, may not quite have the cache of Monterey or the hotel Villa d’Este in Italy. However, it’s a beautiful place in its own right and plays host to Ferrari Club of America Southwest Region’s 11th Concorso Ferrari. It’s an event that’s free of any pretentiousness and also free of an admission cost. It’s not a small event either with an estimated 20,000 attendees.
For the 11th time in a row, former club president, Marv Landon, organized volunteers and club members to put on the show. In total, 148 Ferraris were spread across 3 blocks of Old Town and the the list of cars is spectacular. Vintage highlights include a 1950 166 MM, a 1963 Super America, a 1958 250 GT PF Cab and an unrestored 1952 212 Vignale. Perhaps the cream of the crop was Gary Bobilief’s black 275 GTS. Or maybe Earl Wagoner’s black 250GT Lusso. It’s an impossible call.
Modern Ferrari supercars were well represented, and most notably by a local collector called David Lee with an Enzo, a La Ferrari, an F50, F40, and a 288 GTO. He also displayed a 1967 330 GTS, a 1967 275 GTB4, an 812 Superfast. If that’s not cool enough, he also brought his limited edition F12 Steve McQueen, 812 Superfast.
Awards were also given out and our favorite is the recipient of the People’s Choice. It went to Peter Giacobbi’s special and unapologetically raw Testa Rosa. It may technically be a replica, but he found a 1959 body built by a company that didn’t get the coach-building contract with Ferrari and kitted it out with a 4.4-liter 365 engine.
Ferrari Club of America could fence off their Concorso Ferrari events and charge good money for entry. But, they don’t, and we love them for it. Everybody should get to see a spectacular display of Ferrari’s like this at least once in their life.
