We Have the Bentley Bentayga for a Week: What Would You Like to Know?

We are cruising around in the $278,000 Bentley Bentayga, feeling nouveau riche.

I’m certain that the team at Crewe who designed and assembled the Bentley Bentayga will dislike the association, but in this uber SUV I can think of only one song to blast at full tilt, windows down, in Los Angeles traffic.

“We ain’t never really had no old money, we got a whole lotta new money though.”

Of course, none of us could ever afford the Bentayga. In fact, even financing the sales tax on this $278,000 as-tested luxobarge would put us deep in the red. Somewhat fitting, as “in the red” is a great segway to the exterior of this bright red metallic flake Bentley. The aesthetic just works in person. In a lot of the press photos leading up to this, the Bentayga looked overwrought and overly-tinseled. However, in person, it’s just right. Everyone in the office is on board with the Big B now.

It’s an excellent soft-roader, handling sand with aplomb. Of course, it’s a street-utility vehicle at heart, but it’ll handle most soft-roading that a Bentley owner will put it through. Naturally, it’s an awesome cruiser through Los Angeles, and gets a lot of attention as well, if that’s your thing. Oh, and it’s fast, very fast. Like, Nissan GT-R fast. The twin-turbocharged 6.0L W12 engine has a pretty exotic sound, and with 600 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, it GOES. Even with all-wheel drive, it has tire spin through all of first gear off the line.

So, we will open up the comments to you. What do you want to know about the Bentayga? Would would you like us to do with it?
