Making It Rain Out of a Ferrari F50 is a Bad Way to Escape the Law
After his Ferrari F50 got sandblasted, one Gumball driver used an interesting technique to avoid law enforcement.
Inevitably, we’ve all been there. Just riding around, enjoying our supercars. And then, along comes the law to ruin our day. They call us nuisances, write us tickets, and generally harass us. But running from the law is rarely, if ever, a good idea. Plus, it’s one that’ll land you in even hotter water if you aren’t lucky enough to get away with it. So what’s a guy with say, a Ferrari F50 to do if the law is hot on their tail? Well apparently, toss some cash out of the open top.
At least one guy tried that evasive technique, according to Dustin Worles in this humorous video from VINwiki‘s Car Stories. It all went down when Worles was filming the 2002 Gumball 3000 for his documentary, a race that takes place across multiple states. According to Worles, the Ferrari F50 owner was driving his car with a rather ‘zero f’s given’ attitude, which is pretty much the way any supercar should be driven. Even though the desert sand essentially removed much of the car’s precious paint.
Even better, the Ferrari F50 driver and his passenger did the entire 3,000 mile race with the top off. But as anyone who’s ever sped through small towns in a bright colored supercar knows, this sort of debauchery always draws the attention of local law enforcement. But they had a plan for that, too.

They carried around a few bags of money for that very reason. And when a small town cop chose to pull out behind them, they simply made it rain and let the stopping motorists behind them seal off their escape. Unfortunately, the plan didn’t work and the duo were arrested. But after a quick (and questionable) $10,000 payout, they were released and allowed to finish the race. And in the end, that’s all that matters!
