McLaren 650S vs. Honda Civic Sport vs. McLaren F1 car

Who wants to play the “How fast is an F1 car, really” game? There have been lots of videos that demonstrate just how much speed an F1 car can carry on a track, but this video shows a different and entertaining take on things. It’s a race between a McLaren 650S, a Honda Civic Sport and McLaren’s MP4-29 F1 car from last season. Of course they have to make things interesting, so when the race starts, both of the production cars get a full 15-second head start.

Once that ten second lead has been given, the F1 car sets off. Based on the helmet, this should be Jenson Button driving, but there is no way to really know for sure. It takes almost no time at all for the F1 car to go blasting past the Honda as if it was sitting still, then just a few turns later the McLaren 650S pulls into view. In less than one lap of Silverstone’s short circuit, the F1 car has overtaken both cars.

The McLaren Honda Formula One team may not be doing so hot this season, but that doesn’t mean they still can’t have a little fun in their off-time.

One more thing. Make sure you are watching this video on a smartphone, or in Google’s Chrome browser. There is a super cool 360-degree camera control option for those platforms that lets you watch the race from any angle on the F1 car that you want.
