Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman Drives the 550HP Panamera Turbo

The E-Hybrid version of Porsche’s super sedan might be bloody good, but let’s hear about the “old-school” V8 Panamera.

Before you watch the video, we must tell you that this isn’t the “normal” V8-powered Panamera Turbo. It’s the “Executive” trim. Meaning that it’s six inches longer, backseat space is increased to dictator-like proportion, and several gadgets like screens, massaging seats and rear control pads are installed.

Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which pumps out an impressive 550 horsepower. If you think its massive proportions and its Dumbo-like curb weight of 4,630 pounds keep it from hauling a** down the road, you’d be mistaken. Like, badly mistaken.

The 17-foot-long German limo lights up the tarmac with a 0-60 time of 3.2 seconds, and the standing quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds at 121 mph. Now, whether you want to be at the wheel when that happens or lounging in the back sipping champagne, that’s your call.

Now that you’ve swallowed such stupefying facts, you can watch this new episode of Ignition. This specific episode is special not only for what the Panamera Turbo means for modern technology, but also because Motor Trend Channel‘s Jonny Lieberman travels 89 years back in time to explore Porsche’s past.

Enjoy!
