Video - Acura NSX on Vine

On Monday we said we were eager to hear what the Acura NSX would sound like on the track. Our prayers have been answered early — Honda has released a brief clip on Vine allowing us to hear the new NSX for the first time. While this car is just a prototype that will be run August 4 in front of the public at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course before the Honda Indy 200, the engine sound leaves one wanting for refinement. You might compare this Acura NSX’s noise to a 70s-era, six-pot racing car. We know Honda can do better with the sound, and we imagine they will. If the original NSX could have a superb-sounding V6, so can this one.

We’ll remind you, the next NSX, like its predecessor, will use a V6 mounted amidships, but will depart from its forebear by employing the new Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive system that will complement the V6 with an electric motor assisting the rear wheels and two motors in the nose to power the front wheels.

Honda is using the Mid-Ohio event to ramp up social media buzz as we get closer to the NSX’s 2015 launch date. Honda also wants people in the United States to be well-aware this is an Ohio-developed and Ohio-built supercar.

‘Merica!
