Rumormill: Porsche Planning for Panamera Jr. and Coupe?
Despite how you might feel about the Panamera’s pudgy posterior and overall oddness, the Porsche super sedan has proven outrageously popular. So much so, in fact, that they’re considering several new models built on the Panamera’s platform. That includes a smaller sedan dubbed the Pajun (short for Panamera Jr.), that sexy Panamera Wagon Concept, and even a coupe! Wait. A front engine GT from Porsche? That sounds… Familiar.

Maybe the bulbous butt of the current Panamera is just a baby bump?

While the promise of a successor to the 928 is exciting, CEO Matthias Mueller says that they’re also considering the addition of a sports car that fits between the 918 Spyder and the 911 Carrera. Likely it would be built on the same platform as the Gallardo and R8. Porsche is heading development of the project anyway, so it makes sense that they’d have their own model. I’ve speculated in the past that this model would just be the 918 without all the hybrid shenanigans, but that seems less likely now.

Of course all of this stuff is still really far out. Porsche has verified that they’re bringing out at least four new models by 2018, including the 918 and the Macan. The other two models are unverified. Though considering the favorable reaction to the Sport Turismo Wagon, I’d say that one is in the works. 2018 suddenly seems much, much further away.

If you could have Porsche build a two new cars before 2018, which two would you choose?
