RWB Australia 964 Porsche Build Is Performance-Oriented Performance Art

The RWB 'Stargazer' 964 Porsche build shows off Akira Nakai's style.

Akira Nakai of RWB can transform a Porsche 964 right in front of a crowd.

When Akira Nakai of RWB descends on a Porsche, you just know magic is about to happen. Nakai-san is a veteran of 911 transformations, turning unsuspecting classics like the 964 Porsche into flared and flamboyant custom expressions.

RAUH-Welt Begriff, or RWB, specializes in custom widebody kits designed to give a Porsche 911 a unique look and presence both on and off the track. The renowned tuner bills itself as “creating the distinct RWB style for the Porsche chassis” with “combined Japanese and Euro tuning elements.” It’s apparent with a simple glance at the Japanese tuner’s products.

However, Nakai-san and crew are so good at what they do that they can transform a 964 Porsche into a custom RWB build right before your eyes. And that’s exactly what the team did in Australia with a Rubystone Red 964, lovingly named “Stargazer.”

The “Stargazer” RWB: a Rubystone Red head-turner

Akira Nakai did more than just put his spin on the “Stargazer” 964; his team installed one of RWB’s iconic kits right in front of a crowd in Australia. With jealously-inducing cool, Nakai-san measured, cut, drilled, and mocked up the 964 as on-lookers took it in.

Aside from stopping for the occasional break to pet dogs and have a smoke, Nakai-san didn’t stop until the 964 transformed into an RWB build, complete with a stacked spoiler, flared fenders, wide tires, and an aggressive front end.

Of course, molding a 964 Porsche into something else entirely is familiar territory for RWB.

The “Rauh” in RAUH-Welt Begriff means “rough” auf Deutsch. It’s a commendably cheeky, almost charmingly self-deprecating way to nod to the specifics of each build. One look at the “Stargazer” build in Australia brings to mind automotive performance art. What’s more, “Begriff” translates to “expression” but refers to more of a concept or idea. It’s an apropos moniker for what the RWB team accomplishes with these kits.

However, RWB is quick to let eager consumers know that they “create only one RWB Porsche for each customer.” It really is an exclusive way to own a one-of-a-kind Porsche.
