Toyota Supra Drag Races with Cayman GTS, TT RS, and Litchfield Alpine
One of these cars will show surprising performance consistency against stiff competition.
We here at 6 Speed Online definitely enjoy a good drag race. Lots of automotive brands publish benchmark figures, statistics, pie-charts, etc, when it comes to how well their cars perform. However, there is no better “put your money where your mouth is” situation than a putting the actual cars head to head and putting the gas pedal to the floor. Today, we have an interesting mix of cars within a hot segment.
All of these cars are considered luxury sports vehicles that put performance first. In the mix is the new Toyota Supra, the Porsche Cayman 718 GTS, the Audi TT RS, and the Litchfield Alpine A110. We don’t get the French Alpine mid-engine sports car in the US, but as you’ll soon find out, we really wish we did. Thanks to Car Wow host Mat Watson in the U.K., we get to see these sporty coupes go out to the track and battle it out.
- Porsche Cayman 718 GTS
- Audi TT RS
- Litchfield Alpine A110
- Toyota Supra
Although these cars are all in the same segment, they all boast surprisingly different power figures. The Porsche comes in with 365 HP, the Audi with 400 HP and AWD, the Toyota with 340 HP, and the Alpine with 300 HP. All the cars have dual-clutch transmissions except for the Supra which features a 8-speed ZF automatic. However, launch control is still available on all of the vehicles. As the drag race starts, astoundingly, the Alpine A110 pulls hard off the line and never lets up, even while having 100 HP less than some of the competition. It manages to run a stunningly fast 11.5 second 1/4 mile time, while the 718 came in at 11.7 seconds, the Supra at 12.1 seconds, and the Audi at 12.4 seconds. It’s honestly strange that the Audi, having AWD and the most power, was the slowest of the bunch. Just goes to show that not everything is about numbers.

In the rolling race, the Cayman eases out the bunch, the Alpine following closely behind, with the Supra and then the Audi in tow. The braking test had surprising results, even with the Alpine being the lightest of the cars by a substantial margin coming in at around 2400 pounds and the Audi roadster coming in at almost a thousand pounds heavier, at around 3,300 pounds. The Porsche showed its balance and agility by performing best, followed by the Supra, then the Audi, then the Alpine.

Tests like these go to show that sometimes, you really have to throw a car into battle with other cars to see what its really made of. How do you guys feel about the results? Let us know in the comments below.
