Hi fellow 991 maniacs ! Several months ago I made inquiries about the possibility of swapping out (i.e. a direct replacement with NO addtl parts/rails, etc.) a OEM glass roof for the existing metal 'sunroof' piece. After making calls to 3 different Porsche dealers and others, I have preliminarily determined that it is very possible. Only issue (as per my buddy at Porsche Tyson's Corner, VA) is that the glass piece is somewhat heavier than the steel and therefore should, once installed, only be opened aperiodically so as to limit undue stress on the rails/tracks and electric motor(s).
Question: Who has done this? Do you know anyone that has, or that I might speak with for more info? It appears that it is not "super" difficult, but I have found a great speciality shop in Charlottesville that will do the install for about 200 bucks.
