Type IV ??
Type IV ??
I have an opportunity to buy a pretty clean '80 911 minus an engine. I wasn't planning on buying any new toys soon, but I'm debating it. How hard would it be to place a Type IV in their in the mean time? I wouldn't think it be too difficult, after all there is the 912E?
I know some would think this is sacriligeous, but can't beat instant gratification.

Thanks for the info. the reason I was leaning towards the type IV is that my brother has a "spare" sitting in his garage.
The engine you posted does sound like a good deal, any idea how much shipping would be to the west coast?

I've shipped 911 engines for around $600, so this should be much less. The things that make the 912E engine a deal are the exhaust & mounts, plus the flywheel is set up for use with a 915 gear box

Tried to go look at the car this past weekend but it had been sold.
I did find another SC, a '79 again with no motor but this one is no where near as clean as the previous car. Fist off it has a salvage title: damaged fender and quarter panel and as mentioned no engine. My first thought was no, but since its a salvage title I wouldn't feel so bad cutting it up and making an RSR replica or updating the look to 964 spec. Thoughts?
