Smile New To 6speedonline!

Hi guy's, I'm Emmanuel and I'm from San Diego, CA. Me and my brother recently bought a 1971 911-t with a slant nose kit for $5000. It is the first Porsche we have owned. The car used to be a targa but they made it convertible. It starts, but needs new brake lines and probably new gas lines. Has no roof, the front bumper seems different than any I have seen before. It definitely needs work, inside and out. I'll post some pictures later to see what you guys think. Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks

welcome, enjoy the forums. looks like there is an extra cut out with driving lights mounted. do the headlights still come up and work? or are the front lights the headlights and driving lights. I'm assuming the driving lights run off a separate switch. seems like a good price if the engine is sound. be sure to check for oil pressure chain tensioners...if not there first thing to do would be to get some put on. good luck.

Hey, thanks Jonathan. The front lights are in deed the actual headlights. The ones that come up are not even cut out. We just recently put a new carburetor kit on the carbs. Will put them on and try it today or tomorrow. I'll be sure to check the oil chain tensioners. More pictures coming soon.

ah, yes, a 911T. the carbs are tricky to tune, but sound great when all is in sync. good luck on getting it all together. Makes me sad to be selling my '79. the aircooled engine, with that solo belt, looks so small and simple just sitting there.... no smog, no nothin on it. enjoy the project!

Yeah, the carbs are tricky. We tried to tune them, but I think they're still a little bit off. It'll be a lot of fun working on it, and seeing the progress that is made with some time and effort. How come you're getting rid of your 79.

Although a slant nose 1971 911 convertible is a bit unusual, you certainly can not go wrong at that price. Congrats.

You may want to buy Wayne Dempsey's book "101 Projects for Your Porsche 911". It's $35 and has valuable advice on fuel and electrical systems (plus brakes, suspension, body, interior, engine, clutch, and tansaxle).

Looks like alot of work ahead of you. Enjoy!
I would reccomend visiting Pelican and Rennlist for guidance and
help on your project. This is a great board for newer cars but you will find a wealth of info on the other boards for the air/oil cooled.

+1 on the advice from Vintage Racer on Wayne Dempsey's book "101 Projects for Your Porsche 911".
