1967 Soft Tail 911 Value
Vintage Values
Thanks Viva...i don't own anything thats worth what it was a year ago...you are right ..there's no one in the world that has monet to burn right now except...hmmmm...there must be onr Hedge fund Manager out there looking for a cute little red car!
I told my wife when we bought our current house here in Oxford, MD that I would never move again! I have a 24 x 24 two car garage with not extra room....we have no basements living so close to the water...only crawl spaces. Storage space is at a premium......and we are also hamstrung with 25% impervious surface on our properties within 1000 feet of the water. Can't even build a shed to put my lawn mower or bikes in!
Oh well, I envy guys like you with such great facilities.

I can't imagine why you would want to sell such a grand place....however, saying that....I can't stand the heat in Florida in the summer months. I could see myself in your garage, and if I had it I would add a few more cars to the stable......good luck on your sale....Pipes
Solex was on the highly popular 356 Super 90 and SC, and Porsche used six different types of Solex carbs on the 1965 and 1966 911. But the float valve often stuck which stopped the flow of fuel. Most people replaced the Solex with aftermarket Webers.
In early 1966, Porsche decided to start going with the more expensive Weber. The Weber has an unlimited adjustability and were very successful for many years. Now, the original production Weber carbs are hard to find.
As mentioned, the Vin of all 1965-1967 Porsche 911s were consecutive. The first 1965 cars started with 300001 and the number kept increasing until the 1968 model year. The 1968 model year had a completely different system.
The engine number is important. This number should coincide with the Vin in that each were made at the same time. The number is on the case just to the right of the fan support. Here:
1965 900001-903550 130hp Solex
1966 903551-907000 130hp Solex
------907001-909000 130 hp Weber
1967 909001-911000 130 hp Weber
------911001-912050 130 hp Weber
------960001-962178 160 hp Weber (911S)
I suggest going over to the early911sRegistry. This is a group of people that have lived and breathed the early Porsche for all of their life. They'll give you the exact scoop and value on your car.
While the 911S is not as good of a street car as a 911, their value is higher due to its increased power and racing successes. It's all on the website. The website also has a history of car sales going back a long time. It doesn't matter if its a Targa, 911S, 911E, 911, 911RS, 911T....
I see you live in Sebring. I'll be in your neighborhood in a week. I am there to race in the Sebring Historics:

Since the old Weber carb is hard to find, many people use a PMO card. Here is my car with PMOs:
