2010 911 gt3
have you seen the 2010 Porsche 911 GT3? I saw it at http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...3-ar69821.html let me be the first to say... I love the 911, but the 2010 GT3 looks the same personally. I think its time for a change, everyone else is making cool futuristic cars, and i know Porsche is making a Panamera but I would like them to do something new with the 911. Make it exciting and stand out from all the other models! what do you guys think?
P.S. I do love the new spoiler, that's just awesome!
<---- felt like using that smiley face, lol. Its huge!

Yes like mine.
I do agree though. The 911 has kind of gone into a styling dead-end, but maybe Porsche will do something pretty groundbreaking with the 998.
Who's to say.

I am a proud multi-time Porsche owner and love the looks of pretty much all 911's, It would be nice to have a refreshing look but remember that this vehicle is already considered perfect everytime a new model comes out. Porsche is all about slow evolution, that and you don't ask a company full of engineers to be a designer, that would be the easy way out. Thats not how we play. That and Porsche has the laziest designers of all time. LOL
911's have kept the same overall look for a couple of decades but the engineering under the sheet metal has changed quite a bit over the years. The newer cars have water cooled engines and a completely different suspension from the older models. The newer models are heavier than in the past and have increased HP to compensate for the additional weight, but they all give you a grin when you hit the accelerator or take a turn at speed......that's what owning a Porsche is all about....
I drove an NSX in the early 90's and it was a nice car. All aluminum, if I remember....engine, body and frame. It was pretty responsive and looked good, I don't see them around any more.

Pipes, I was just agreeing with you. 911 styling and engineering is a slow evolution over decades of time, and dramatic changes in chassis design would not be welcome or appreciated by present and former owners. Put an SC and a 997 side by side and you will notice how much of a resemblance there are in the details of the two cars, from the exterior roofline profiles down to the inside door handles. Radical change in the model every 3 or 4 years would ***** out the model and make it no different than buying a Japanese car and cause serious devaluation of the overall product line over time. The 911 shape is too iconic and the GT3 with the GT1 block represents the core and pinnacle of Porsche's engineering.
You're also welcome to give me a call if that's more convenient for you.
+1 Steve...I've had 300ZX TTs and RX7s in the past, and they all became just another vehicle over time...they were great fun at the time, but nothing compares to the classic 911...I get "thumbs up" from many guys in their Acuras, Hondas, and Nissans...
BTW..if this is the same Steve W, I have a new chip of yours in my 911...

Having had a 70's 911 and then being out of it for 30 years, I can say the 911 was a remarkable car back then and is truly AMAZING today. My only regret was that I waited so long to get back into P-cars. The 911 is a classic shape and car that has gotten and gets better every year. Porsche has been able to do that when others thought they couldn't. Great, great engineering.
