Thoughts on this color?

Anyone have thoughts on this color? It's a 1986 911 3.2. The panel under the hood show "L999" which indicates factory custom -- but the sticker inside the right side list 33X (Prussian Blue). However, in looking at other online pictures of Prussian Blue cars, this one seems to have much more purple tint to it (especially in the sun).

Could be Marine Blue? I had an 87 that looked very similar to this. It changed color with its surroundings, environment, and lighting. Sometimes it did look dark purple, other times black, and even Atlas Grey! its a very unique color indeed.

Are you thinking about buying a 86-87 911?

But the most important question is - do YOU like it?

No question about that -- I do like it. I'm really trying to figure out whether this is a factory standard color, factory custom or paint-to-sample color, or a repainted color. I just haven't found any pictures out there to confirm this one way or another.

It may be Prussian Blue is a VERY dark navy blue. I like the color a lot. If not painted over, I think the color code should be on the sticker inside the hood. To me, even if it is not an original color, and I like it, that is fine. Rather than way, than an original color that I don't like

Look under the hood for the paint code. It's usually a white label with a bunch of 3-digit codes. There should be one for color and there are cross reference indexes online as to what the color is. It's sometimes stamped under front trunk carpet as well. If you lift the front driver carpets and get to the metal, you'll also see original color

1986 Paint Colors

I just purchased a GR 1986, the seller included an original 1986 sales brochure with the car. Exterior paint listed with samples for blue in the brochure are Prussian Blue metallic S4, Dark Blue K5, and Iris Blue Metallic S3. The picture of the car looks most similar to Prussian Blue.
