HID kit install

Hello,

I was thinking about purchasing an HID kit for my dad's 930 slant nose for christmas and I was curious about the install regarding the flip up headlamps. Would this be a problem in that there is now a ballast with extra wires? And I know the headlamp is hi/lo beam. Is that an H1 configuration? Have any of you installed an HID kit on your 930's?

Thank you!

They are easy to install and come with plenty of length in the wire so you will be fine with them flipping up and down. I installed an 8k kit in mine. Took about 15mins to install....

ZLP--sent you PM of this:
Sweet 930!!

I want to install HID's on my '86 911. Question: where did you mount the ballasts--do they fit inside the headlight bucket, or did you extend the wiring and mount ballasts in trunk area?

Also, which kit did you get, and do you recommend it? There's tons on ebay for $100., not sure of their quality.

thanks
Mike

I would question anything on ebay that is sold by a company that looks like they specialize in Honda Civic parts, when they are selling for "PORSCHE 911 924 928 968". I would also like to know if this is legit and if there are any reputable sellers out there.

I tried to fit ballast behind the headlights but they wouldn't fit. I think they need to be put in the truck or get a "slim" ballast

My ballasts are in my trunk and the lines go through the stock grommets.

True, but I'd like to see if anyone has any experience with a particular retailer, quality of the kit, true HID, etc.

Anyone?

They are all made in china anyway, unless it has phillips ballasts. I've heard that they put out more wattage when you turn the lights on, and it can cause the stock harness to burn out after a while.
