Approx Value 1978 930

I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with a car I am looking at. It is a 1978 930 with various RUF upgrades. It currently has just over 100k KM. What should I be looking for with this car and how much do you believe it is worth. COuld it be a factory slant? I believe it to be a pretty clean car from what I hear but have yet to see it myself.

Definately not a factory slant.
60,000 miles plus.
After market Ruf mods are nice.

I would say that you should be around $36-$38k.

Is this something worth pursuing? I don't mind if it isn't a factory slant as long as they are factory parts (is that possible?). What else sould I be looking for with this car? Problem areas? red flags?

Also you say it is not a factory slant as it is not a 87-89? I am in Canada if that makes a difference. Also could it have been under the "special wishes" that I read about? Sorry I new to the 930 world, and am trying to educate myself.

Absolutely worth pursuing. Factory parts could have been used (definately a plus).
Make sure that you get a proper pre purchase inspection at a reputable aircooled 911 shop.
Definately not a factory slant in 78. No difference anywhere in the world, not even special wishes.
Good luck with your search and please report back.

Will do, thanks for all your help. I'm hoping to go have a look at the car in person this week. Will report back with details.

Check the slant conversion carefully as well as some of these had a few corners cut. Looks beautiful!

Again, could be mostly factory parts but the lack of a jack point on the side rocker mean not a factor installation. The factory welded on extensions to the jack locations in order to accommodate the wider boxed rockers. These had plugs in them like the standard rockers do.

I will try and get the real story from the owner when I speak with him. I appreciate the heads up on what to look for.

Hey Luis the car is mine. I got it last October. it's an '88 all original except that right now it has a euro exhaust and later Blaupunkt. It just turned over 47K miles and is in as close to as new condition as I guess would be possible for a car of that age and mileage. Here are a couple more pics.

Thanks,

Well I have my wife convinced that each car purchase was sound and that I can get my money out of them if needed. For example we picked up her 993 three years ago for $25.5. It was/is in excellent condition with around 60K when we got it. It's been a good reliable car and has just north of 70K now. I don't think I've lost money on it
Not many cars you could have bought new three years ago for the same price that you could say the same thing about today.

The slant was an even better deal if you compare purchase price to current value.....So as long as these cars don't plummet in value if/when gas prices continue to skyrocket I should be okay
