Need Opinions on buying 930 turbo
Need Opinions on buying 930 turbo
I have looking for a low miles 930 in black, and came across this one. I have seen the car in person, and its condition is immaculate. However, wheels are 15 inch fuchs, and they look out of proportion. Price is questionable.

I also located a 1989 Factory Slant nose on slaoncars.com

This is a 17k miles car, but it is a 1989. Price is 100k
Any feedback, and opinions on these two cars? I don't know if it is worth it to pay that premium for a low mileage car vs. finding a higher milage car with a clean history. I just find it hard to believe a 1986 car with 7000 miles on it.
I plan to keep it for a long time, but I have no experience with older turbo cars.
Thanks guys!

Wow !!
I love both of those cars. I would buy the 7k car and just make it a garage queen, but I love the low mile stuff.I bought a 1987 with 28k on it to drive on weekends. Don't think this helps much but good luck on your purchase!
Although I love low mileage cars you have to be careful with older cars with very low mileage. It would be nice to have a good set of records to prove that it was maintained even when it wasnt being driven. For that much $ Id want to be sure.
Either way good luck. Gotta love the 930 hope you can make it work.

I had an 89 930 that I used as a daily driver. I had it about 5 years and sold it with 90,000 miles. It never had any major problems and I drove it hard. Tracked it a few times etc. I had some mods done with the fuel injection which was not very good from the factory. It had been modified for the US so I had a european system put in.
This was the car that I loved more than any other that I have had. It was incredibly predictably unpredictable. If you plan to really drive the car, I would suggest that you take some racing courses where they use rear engined cars for the instruction. I took a lot of Skip Barber formula courses that used rear engined open wheeled fords and that taught me a lot about the handling of the 930.
The 89 had a five speed trans which was a big improvement in daily driving.

I saw that car too in Costa Mesa. Wow, it was so clean. One comment made by the sales rep...those wheels are rare and he said they were worth 20k. I dont believe everything I hear but you may want to check it out for yourself. I too worry about low mile cars vs. daily drivers. When they sit around that could be future problems.
I just put my white 930 up for sale. It has only 10,700 miles on it. I've had it for 18 months and only put 1400 miles on it since I bought it. It's immaculate. Might as well be out of a time capsule. The only reason I'm selling is to make room for a track car in my garage.
I paid a significant premium for low mileage because it's the only mod you can't buy. Yes, too few miles can be a risk, but we'd all buy a news one if we could. No one else's issues or misuse. I'd only buy one with mid- to high miles if I was going to disassemble it and mod it significantly. So I think that you're doing the right thing.
I'd recommend mine to you but it's white with black leather. Oh well.

Just bought a 87 930 slant, 43k miles, completely restored. Spent the whole weekend driving it, what a rush!
If you can find a clean slant, I say get it....they sure ain't making anymore!
